I think things without backboards shouldn't cost so much

I have been looking at different websites for ideas on what bookcase I want, and honestly? Yep, honestly, well ebay has the best deal. They even beat out walmart by a few dollars. Plus I can use ebates / rakuten to purchase.
I'll still do some more looking around, maybe check out big lots and see if Ollie's has anything, but I am almost certain I'll go with ebay for my bookshelves.
I've looked at a few backless book cases and they are a bit too expensive for my taste. I also don't like the idea of a backless case for books. Maybe for some decorations / knick knacks, but not for books.
How expensive is too expensive when it comes to book cases or entertainment centers for you?

I think a handmade one would be nice, but there's only one person I can think of that could do that for me and they are far too busy.

@JustBhem That is awesome. If I had a bed made for me, I'd have drawers built underneath my bed. I know you can get them made already, but they are costly.

I bought a couple a few years ago, but they were smaller. I want the bigger ones, maybe two of them. Trying to get rid of a few pieces of furniture as well.

I haven't looked for a bookcase in awhile but the ones I have are wood with no backboards. They keep my books organized but they are also against a wall so the books can't fall out of the back.

My thing is I would have to remove the books if I ever wanted to move the bookcase. I am the type that would just carefully move it without needing to take all the books out, that's impossible with a backless unit.
Of course, I like the way they look.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I didn't think of the moving it part without removing the books. Mine are just too heavy to move and I guess that's why the backless doesn't bother me

I think that might be where I bought the last two I got. I am looking for one for like 5 shelves, and the last time I checked I found it for about $40.00 on ebay.

They may be cheaper at the actual store. I was going to look yesterday when I went, but I had to hurry since I had groceries in the car that needed to be put up.

@thislittlepennyearns I still have my old toy chest. It's now used for food items. I am nto sure what is inside it anymore.

I have got bookshelves made and they are clamped to walls. They have been there for years now and I have sufficient storage there.

I would have mine made, but I don't want them clamped to the wall. I have considered seeing if I can't get someone to make them, but they are always so busy.
