Do you want to quit your job and travel the world?

These days, it's a popular trend to quit jobs and to travel. I see thousands of people doing this, not necessarily youngsters but people of all ages. To be honest, I want to do this too. I want to work for some more years and settle down in the northern part of Indian; somewhere in the mountains. I want to lead a simpler life. But the main concern is money. How do I sustain my living? How do I ensure a monthly income? This is what blocks dreams of travel enthusiasts or people who want to retire to more calmer and simpler places.

Only those people who does not have a family of their own, that is wife and children dependant on them, can aspire to leave the job and move round the world and settle some where to simpler life. Your idea of settling in northern part of India some where in Himalayas is good. You may not need lot of money for that you should only be ready for simpler life and be ready to do any work that comes your way. There are lot of Ashramas where you can settle under self service norms.

Yes, I am aware of this. But I know many couples' travellers too. They work online and travel the world. I don't want to live in an Ashram. I want to have my own house with my own norms.

Heck yes! But you’re right. We have to think logistically about it.

Just my question, with what money do they travel if they do not work?

I mean they quit their "08:00 to 17:00" jobs. You know what I mean. They go for online works, for example, Vlogging, Blogging, E-commerce and so on.

@LadyDuck I know quite a few personally who are making thousands of dollars every month. It's no more a myth.

@excellence7 Oh some those are the people who think that they can make a living online. Good luck to them.

You are from Mauritius. I heard tourists are going there because it is a lovely place. Do you want to relocate or be a digital nomad?

I would like to become a digital nomad rather. Any guidance for me?

@excellence7 What they would normally advice is to get a day job and save up first. And then part time do work online. Until you are able to transition.

@yoalldudes You are so right, though it can take a long time.

I cannot do that although I love the idea. But I am too old and don´t have the health or the money to do that. I wonder why rich, younger people, don´t do it more often.

I used to, but I also enjoyed my work (in medical research) which obviously had to be done in a set place. Later I switched to working at home as an editor but then the technology was not available to be able to do it anywhere. Now that technology has advanced, I could travel the world and work - but now I have children at school. And I also like my home and doing things here that take time (like gardening). I wish I could have a parallel life!

I totally understand. I have seen many families travelling with their children and I think it's something doable in this new era. I am also fascinated by families living in vans and buses, which are converted into eco-friendly homes. By the way, I like gardening too. I think I will post about this soon.

@excellence7 I hope I could travel to more places before I can only lie on the bed.
