The role of a Guru

In Hinduism, Guru (the Teacher who guides one to God) has a very significant role. Guru is revered with great respect and it is recommended that a student seeking spiritual enlightenment must surrender to the instructions of his Guru. The Guru is the light to the greater light. He is the pool of knowledge and the guide to the seekers. I believe that Guru can be anyone or anything who teaches us something. A renounced spiritual teacher, a bird, the ocean and the sky; all can be gurus if they teach us lessons that guide us towards the greater Truth.

I think you are right; at various times in my life different people have appeared just when I needed them to help me learn.
