I Don’t Have a Dog, But........

When we had a dog, we had our own property and a street with lots of patches of brush to walk our dog. Wherever we traveled with him, we kept baggies for cleanup. Here in Florida, I noticed that most, but not all dog walkers, clean up after their dogs. I always watch where I step, just in case. I’ve been lucky so far. I spotted this sign on my morning walk today. I thought it was appropriate. Have you ever stepped on something you wish you hadn’t?

it is actually the law in Maryland, and when we walk the dogs, we see lots of violations! I hate it when I step in that delightful stuff. It is like super glue. Step in it early, walk 5 miles, and it is still there!

@DianneN there are times when we end up picking up leftovers because they are right on the sidewalk.

@DianneN Yes, I have stepped on what a dog left behind and it is not fun to clean it off. Here people do not always clean up after their dogs, but, there are those that do.

I know how awful that is! I wear sneakers when I walk and it’s impossible to get them clean afterwards. Gum is no fun either.

@DianneN You are so so right about gum. I do not understand when there is a garbage can closeby they throw it on the ground.

I love the sign. So far the new neighbors are good with the dogs, but not sure about the little Rascal black cat that keeps showing up at my bird feeder. And yes I have stepped on something that messed up my shoes!

Yes! I took the kids to the park today and was inches away from a pile while trying to lace up my daughters roller blades. I didn't see it at first and was like "oh my goodness child, did you brush your teeth?". That's when she pointed to the pile lol.

I've been lucky that I've never stepped on gum @DianneN and as far as doggie poo I've only done that here when I wasn't paying attention and I did have my yard boots on so that's a plus cuz all I had to do was wash that stuff off.

I agree people should pick up their dog's poop.Sometimes it blends with the terrain so it is hard to see.

I think it's inevitable that we all will eventually step in something we shouldn't have, but I will have to say it's been quite a while since that's happened to me. Often times we don't even realize we stepped in something until we notice a pungent smell and wonder where it's coming from! hahah

Ug. I've lost count how many times the kids have stepped in it, in our backyard. We have 2 dogs and we don't always find all the "deposits" when we go on Poop Patrol. What's worse is the stray dog that keeps pooping in our gravel driveway, where we park our cars. I don't always see it in time to clean up before the kids step in it and track it into the van. I feel like the mutt us doing it on purpose.

It’s one thing when it’s your own dogs, but another when someone else’s dog leaves gifts. I had to speak to two neighbors to keep their dogs off our new lawn, and they were being walked on leashes! Sheesh!

@DianneN I think I know the dog who poos in our driveway (he's not really a stray, I guess). He used to live here but moved with his owners some years ago. Apparently he's an escape artist that likes to roam around town during the day. At any rate I don't appreciate his "gifts"!
