The End of the Year.

There's just a few days left to December, then the new year arrives. 2020 is bound to be interesting, what with impeachment in the Senate and the election later on in the year. Also a new census. Need a new side job -- the census is hiring! Christmas was very quiet here -- we fell back on our holiday standby. We made a chateaubriand -- the center cut of a beef tenderloin -- along with mashed potatoes and green beans and homemade rolls. J is turning out to be breadmaker of the two of us. I made a Christmas Cake this year, and cut out cookies, but only had enough icing to cover the cake. Oh well. Still have plenty of cake and cookies left. Not reading much, or indeed, anything else. The depression is running rampant as it usually does this time of year. And I hurt -- back, knees, hip, lower spine. So I've been in my chair, and dozing a lot. It's not taking much for me to fall asleep in it -- I don't know if it is the amount of Gabapentin that I am taking or what. Today, I managed to finally make an entry here, and I will try hard to be around more often.

It is hard to believe that it is almost the end of the year. This month has flown by, and really the last few months have as well. We have seen those census is hiring signs all over the place but it does require a driver's license, unfortunately. We had pot roast, turkey, ham, mashed potatoes... Just lots and lots of foods were had at my aunt's house. As for depression, I understand that all to well. It has not yet hit me, but it usually does and with a vengeance. It makes it hard to do pretty much anything or go anywhere.

@Telynor I have been through the therapy thing a time or two. I've learned to manage it the best I can on my own. I'm lucky that mine is not as severe, or as frequent as my friends and families have been. I have a good support group that helps pull me through things as well.

I don't have a driver's licence as I am nearly blind in one eye. The depression is the result of many things, so I keep up with it by therapy and medication. It works, and every morning that I wake up is a win.

Yes indeed. It's hard to stay cheerful and 'merry' when you feel like the world is falling to pieces around you.
