I don't have one of these at home, but you might.

I bought a keurig several years back but never really used it. I have an electric tea kettle but I have been considering getting a coffee maker again. Nothing fancy, just something that will brew the basic stuff. Of course, I keep going back and forth with it in my head. Is it worth it? Would it be used enough to justify the cost of it? When I do drink coffee, I drink several cups, but my health doesn't always allow it. Do you own a coffee maker and is it something that you use daily? Do you prefer the basic coffeemaker or a fancier one?

I find the Keurig cups to be wasteful so I prefer my good ol' coffee mate coffee pot. I buy good coffee so it tastes just as good to me and is also significantly cheaper.

I don't think the keurig cups are wasteful, but they are expensive and definitely not economical for twice a day coffee drinkers.

@Nakachan That guy should be working towards making a biodegradable cup and marketing it to the manufacturers of those k-cups.

@ScribbledAdNauseum it's a waste of plastic and those cups are not biodegradable. The guy who invented them said inan interview that it his greatest regret because of how many of those cups are filling the landfills. It's very wasteful compared to one filter making a whole pot vs a plastic refill for one cup.

I don't drink coffee. I have a caffeine addiction, but I get it through Coca Cola. Not too healthy myself.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Well, it's better than diet soda. Artificial sweeteners are worse than sugar.

I used to drink lots and lots of sodas. Now I drink coca cola maybe once a week. However, I have started drinking my grocery store's brand of Orange Soda in glass bottles, and the IBC cherry limeade's. Not the healthiest either, for sure.

I had a Keurig for awhile, but it did not meet my needs, and I hated dealing with that little cup thingy...My standard basic coffemaker that makes multiple cups is fine with me!

I will just have to see what I can get at a good price. I don't really like the keurig either, even with buying that resuseable k-cup.

@TiarasOceanView I bought a Black and Decker keurig and used it maybe twice or three times, not money well spent on my part.

I can't remember the brand of kettle I got a few years ago but I love it. I use it atleast once or twice a week. I don't just use it for tea or insta coffee either, but also for boiling water for things on the stove or for cleaning.

I have a Keurig. It is perfect for me b/c I only have 1 cup of coffee in the morning and that is it. No need for a whole pot.

The only reason I'd get a keurig again is if I got a really good price on it. I know I can do hot cocoa and teas with it too.

@thislittlepennyearns All these kids I hear of drinking coffee. When I was a kid I was given a cup of coffee with no creamer and it deterred me from it.

I have my electric kettle and prefer it to the tea pots you put on the stove. Are you saying you have several of those or several of the serving kettles?

Some people brew their tea in a coffee pot and add sweeteners to it after. I've never been one to do that. I use my electric kettle to heat water for tea and for instant coffee.

@ScribbledAdNauseum No, I donĀ“t do that. We boil water first in the electric water kettle and then add that boiled water to the mug with tea.

I use my Keurig because I don't need too much coffee, a single serving is perfect for me :) if you end up with a big coffee maker, you could always save the rest for iced coffee the next day

That's a very good idea. There are others here who would drink a cup or two, though so it wouldn't go to waste either way.
