Pictures from planes

I'm trying to figure out where I've stored all my pictures and make sure they're all on an external harddrive before I get a new computer. Lot of pictures of horses here, but also lot of pictures from planes. When I fly somewhere, I always try to get a window seat. If the weather's nice, I'll take pictures while flying. Some times they're good, other times they're quite bad. When we're too high to take pictures I usually fall asleep, wake up for the drinks, fall asleep again and then wake up when the landing starts. Added a picture I took from somewhere between Trondheim and Oslo a couple of years ago. Do you take pictures from planes? Or do you have other things you like to do when flying?

My personal computer has windows 7, the job computers are a bit more up to date. There's no way my computer will survive an update so I need to get a new one. And a new phone. And a new bed. The money is there, I just hate shopping ... I'm trying to delete the worse photos as I go along. I don't really need to save all of them for posterity. But the question is how bad does it have to be to get deleted. Really bad or just bad?

@Torunn yepperz, this'un'll not survive neither :( which's sad coz 'tis been a good'un fer many years. i jest use my phone's a phone, so such'll be with me 'til 't croaks, lol. a new bed? jest the mattress 'r frame/headboard/foot board? i hear ya'n shoppin'. ya know that "shop" 'tis a 4-letter word, lol. one purty much needs a phd 'n these thingies 's there's a gazillion options fer mattresses these days. like most other schtuff...jest adds to the confusion. i've yet to figure how bad 'tis 't takes fer one to be deleted. i've some fascinatin' 'ghost' pics 'f the horses 'fter my son borrowed my camera, changed the settin's 'n didn't put 'em back. 'f course, i'd no knowledge such'd occurred 'til the ponies 'd settled down'n i'd time to look. 'twas horrified'n greatly disappointed! now, i think they're most interestin' 'n since many 're no longer with me, i cherish 'em 'long with the rest. so, i reckon i'd be no help with yer query, lol. 'tis that 'eye 'f the beholder' i reckon?

@crazyhorseladycx It's one of the those mattress with feet. A frame mattress it's called here. It's at least 15 years old and my back gets much better in other beds, so I think it's about time the bed and I part. I'll have to get someone to bring it here, so I'm counting on one of my parents being able to sit in my flat and wait for it. They don't have two jobs :-)

I never took pictures from planes, I usually do crosswords, watch a movie, read a book. Most of my plane trips were pretty long.

Once you're far up in the air, it's not much use taking pictures anymore. My plane trips have a tendency to go up and down all over Europe, so many take-offs and landings.

@Torunn That is an interesting moment, but when you go from Europe to the United States there is not a lot interesting up in the air.

@LadyDuck True, I remember mostly water :-) And when we came in over the US I was asleep most of the time I think.

I took pictures the first time I flew, but nowadays I sleep whenever I fly. I thought flying is something special, but it turned out to be a boring activity.

Flying is a great time for sleeping, I agree with you in that. I always fall asleep when we've reached max altitude.

@rappeter13 You can sleep, read or be bored. Or play games on your phone, but I find that boring, so sleeping is better.

@Torunn You don't really have options on a plane.

I stare at the window and watch the gremlins on the wings. I tried telling a flight attendant about them once, but not only did they not believe me, they escorted me off the plane in handcuffs when we landed. So now I just keep quiet when I see the gremlins.

Yes, you should be careful about mentioning the gremlins. They don't like to be talked about, and they have enough influence to shut up those who talk about them. I suspect they're behind the socks missing from my laundry but I better not talk about it ...

@moffittjc It's the gremlins. I think single socks might be their toilet paper.

@Torunn I just finished a load of laundry earlier, and already have one sock missing today. I'm not off to a good start...

@Torunn That photo is so lovely. I have a major fear of flying so it's very hard for me to look out the window with my own eyes let alone try take a photo. I do eventually have a glance but that's after quite a long time of trying to get the confidence to do it. Then I quickly look away again. I haven't been on a plane all that much. Over 5 but less than 10 times maybe. I take a small bag with me that has some books, magazines, paper and pens so I can try to distract myself but usually, my time is mostly spent looking at other people's faces to observe whether they are calm or stressed. (if they look calm, it helps me be a bit more calm regarding the flying). Landing is my most favourite part as I know I'm finally on the ground again.

A pity we haven't been on the same plane, 'cause I suspect I look very relaxed once I look away from the window. I usually fall asleep very fast. But you haven't flown a lot, if you at some point just have to, maybe it'll get better? My mother used to be terrified of flying, she did it anyway but took pills and a drink. Then she had to fly to western Norway for work. It was in the middle of a storm in one of those tiny planes that just bounce around. It's actually pretty safe, special pilots, special planes for the outskirts of Norway, but still pretty scary. After that she decided that being afraid of flying was just stressfull, and never thought of it again.

@VivaLaDani13 When travelling, I can usually fall asleep very fast. Some times I have to, since I get travel sick in boats, buses, cars, trains and planes. Falling asleep helps. I don't get to see much though, so I prefer not going by bus 'cause that's the worse. My mum's a doctor, so the pills she took before the trip that changed would probably have calmed you. Or made you sleep. It's strong stuff, so it's quite good she doesn't have to take it anymore. A friend of mine used to work as a air hostess, she says that drinking doesn't seem to help many people. The nervous are still nervous, but some of them are also very drunk, making the other nervous people more nervous. Drunk people on plane would make me react too, and I'm usually very calm.

@Torunn You would have been someone who would have helped calm me. But you falling asleep would have freaked me out lol Though, at the same time, knowing you can easily fall asleep would sort of put my mind at ease too. It's a way of saying you're relaxed and calm. So half - half on that one. I'm unsure. I have wondered if I did it more, would I be able to get used to it. But not sure. I just don't like being squished into this chunk of metal way way off the ground. Even in my dreams, I often dream I am in a plane but it will either start to take off and fall back down or fly really high and fall down. Your mum is my idol for flying! I tried having tablets and another time tried drinking but it hasn't helped calm me or try put me to sleep. I imagine I look like a deer in headlights the whole time sitting in a plane.

Yes, I took photos while inside the plane. I took videos, too. I love setting near the window when the flight is not so long as it is always nice to view the clouds like cottons.

Yes, that's really nice! I realize I miss flying, off all things. It'll probably be one of the first things I do when the quarantine rules are loosened even more. On a not too wild guess, I think I can to Finland, Denmark, Iceland and possibly Germany first. Not sure about Sweden, hope they start testing people soon.

@thelme55 Many countries say they're going to start extensive testing now, then I think at least parts of Europe'll be open again

@Torunn I miss flying too. I wish we can fly again to the places we want to travel to. Of course after the pandemic.

I like these photos too! I took one, while flying over Arizona, that you could actually just see the landscape when up at flying altitude..Was kind of strange but cool.

Yes, some times you can see a lot even though at flying altitude, especially if it's rivers and mountains. I really like that.

I do not fly any longer Torrun. When I used to fly and that was a lot I was always occupied with movies.

I've only seen movies on the few long distance flights I've made (US, Japan, Australia). Within Europe it's too short to see a movie.

I do not fly on planes anymore. It is to easy for the plane to crash.

Right now I'd probably be wearing a mask if I was going to fly. Not wandering around, but in the plane.

I was never very interested in the films but then I discovered that watching a film fills in a heap of time.

Yes, if you have a long haul the films come in useful, even if they're not very good films.

Since I won't be flying anywhere the next months, I think I might look at some of my old pictures and dream about autum
