China
January 2, 2020 3:08am CST
Today is the eighth day of the twelfth lunar month (transliteration: LaBa).By tradition,we eat LaBa porridge-rice porridge with beans, nuts and dried fruits. There are a few of versions of why we have to eat LaBa porridge. One of them is that Sakyamuni attained the right fruit by selfcultivation this day.
Laba Festival is a traditional Chinese festival. People make and eat rice porridges to celebrate the day, so it is also named the Rice Porridge Festival

In fact this festival is not so popular in my city. And we also don't have a custom to make this kind of porridge. Our country is big and therefore different places can have quite different customs

I want to taste Chinese LaBa porridge, I think eating porridge ( there are many types) in our country is a Southern Chinese influence, we call it " lugaw"

Happy LaBa Fest to you. I looked this recipe up, don't know if I can get millet, but I would like to try this. I am on the lookout for new recipes because now that my husband had this surgery, he has to watch his sugars, salt, and carb intake, which is more difficult than I thought it would be.

Thank you very much! However Laba porridge has some peans in it, which would get gas. Maybe it doesn't agree with your husband. The millet is a common grain here.
