I Miss Eating This.

Oh yes, I miss eating shrimps. When I was still single and living in my parents house, my grandma who cooks for us will have a weekly menu with fish, pork, beef, seafood such as shrimps, squid, crabs. The place where we used to live have a big market and the seafood are always fresh. When I got married, we usually buy food from the grocery. I am not used to buying frozen food and I do not buy fish or seafood there since most of them are not fresh. I have to go to another market a bit far from our house to be able to buy fresh seafood. Today I went early to a market near the coastal area to buy this. It is delicious. This is our lunch. What is your lunch/dinner?

They are getting quite expensive especially the bigger ones, I sometimes put a little sprite or 7-up when I cook it this way, others prefer to put a dash of kechup when about to cook. I had " laing " for lunch, taro leaves cooked in coconut milk and also shrimps ( I prefer it over pork) and with lots of different spices.

When we want prawns, there is a Sunday market where good prawns were always available although the price is quite steep at 1,000 pesos ($20) per kilo. I cook it in coconut milk. That's the favorite of my wife.

I will never miss that hehehe! I’m allergic to seafood and so is my younger daughter. One time when my daughter and her husband were attending a prayer meeting, the husband called that they were going straight to the hospital. My daughter had huge bloated areas on her face especially around her eyes that they were almost totally closed. My daughter feared that the inflamation might reach inside her esophagus and that would lead her to have difficulty in breathing. She was told to stay in the hospital for 3 hours till it subsided a little. They came home at almost midnight; they had to come home because her little baby would be looking for her.

Sorry to hear that. But that is true, some people are allergic to seafood. And it is important that the person affected be brought to an emergency care because you are right the esophagus might close up

I LOVE shrimp, but I love anything seafood. Love fish too. Freshwater or salt water, I generally buy frozen. I live in Illinois and there is very little "fresh" you can get here.

I am sure you are going to enjoy it as you have been waiting for the fresh ones for so long. It's 10:48 here and I have brought my daughter to her music class. Had a simple breakfast of toast banana and tea. Will go back to cook hot rice. I have already made sambhar( lentils and vegetables curry) to go along with rice.

I have that on New Year's eve. I cooked paella but the saffron I have for 2 years almost lost it's color. The aroma and taste however were still there. For today's lunch, I cooked mongo soup with loads of cabbage and a dried fish.
