Do you bring your own snacks to the movies?

I know most people don't go to the movies anymore, preferring to watch things at home, but if you do go, or have gone do you bring your own snacks? I am planning to pop some popcorn and put it in my purse. One time though at Regal Cinema's in Richmond they were actually checking people's persons and or bags. I am sure they were looking for weapons..but what would they do if they found snuck in snacks? . Movie concessions are so expensive that people tend to bring their own. I have to really be feeling rich to buy snacks at the concession, or have a freebie coupon or something.

I cannot tell you the last time I went to the movies, for the very reason you stated. It's just too damn expensive. But I tend to splurge on whatever they have just because if I DO go, it's been a LONG time since the last time I went.

I will go as a special treat or if there is something I really want to see. It isn't convenient for me to go.

@snowy22315 It's probably been six or seven years since I last went into a movie theatre. Really, there is nothing I can't wait to see on Netflix or wherever else it might show up.

I remember as a teen they used to go up and down the aisles with a flashlight and take away food and drinks people brought in that wasn't sold there. We took our own drinks and snacks in and hid them. As an adult I do not do that. We eat and drink before we go in and eat and drink when we come out. We can sit for an hour and a half to watch a movie without eating or drinking. Saves money not buying food and drinks there that are expensive and makes me feel better about not cheating the cinema. Seems everyone I know sneaks food and drinks I though but my kids and I don't.

@snowy22315 hmm I guess I didn’t realize how long the movies were. We eat three meals and one snack between. There isn’t any reason we can’t sit through a movie without eating or drinking. I rarely snack at all but the kids do have three a day.

Its a rare movie that is an hour and a half these days. Most of the ones I go to are closer to 2.5 hours and you are there longer with commercials previews and the like.

We always bought popcorn, candy, and cola at th theaters, but now we go to matinees then out to dinner. I used to sneak in healthy snacks for our sons when they were young.

I didn't have tune to pop any corn but I Had part of a Snickers in my purse so that was my snack. On a good note (although there are no theaters close to me) One of the closest has made all matinees 6.00 so I might get some pcorn at some point. If I feel like spending money.

@mrki444 I know but charging 6 to 10 bucks for something that costs pennies is exploitive in my opinion.

It’s been years since I went. I don’t know if they still allow food from the outside snack stalls but I will surely bring something to eat or drink if I ever decide to go to a cinema again.

I will bring my own snacks to the cinema. First, I don't like popcorn very much. I prefer to potato chips. Second, they won't check our bags. Third, there is no rule that we can't bring our own snacks to the cinema. In fact I ever saw some people bring the burgers to the cinema as they have no time for their meal.

No burgers at the movies here unless maybe you go to a drive in.

It's been forever since I've gone to the movies. I mean I went to the movies. Not me taking my kids to the movies. When I used to go to the movies, the snacks sold at the concession stand weren't so expensive. So when you planned to go to the movie you took a few extra dollars for the popcorn, candy and drink. Nowadays I hear that they've turned movie houses into "dinner theaters" and people can plan to have dinner and watch a movie. Sounds like a good idea. But to be honest, I miss drive-in theaters.

There is drive in near me. It is fun to go to in the summer. Their snack bar concessions are very reasonable because they know people can bring their own food!

Well pockets full is a bit over the top, but if it is a long movie it is nice to have something ratehr than buy 6 or 8 dollar popcorn.
