That’s right, folks, no Hole here. I’m continuing the dual countdowns of songs with “love” in the title, leading up to Valentines Day next month. And, for the third day in a row, it’s familial in the country department! Train of Love - Johnny Cash First there was the Carter Family, then June’s daughter Carlene, and now the Man in Black himself! Those magical mid-50s, when songs like this were very hard to categorize. Country? Definitely. But it also had that “rockabilly” thing going as well. As a result, it was a hit in both country and pop. And, as a result, Johnny Cash was the first person inducted into the Rock and Roll and Country Music halls of fame as a performer (the other country performers in the rock hall had been inducted as “early influences”). A simple sound (this was just Cash, Marshall Grant on bass, and Luther Perkins on guitar) that helped shake the world of music in the 50s. Train of Love Written by Johnny Cash Recorded by Johnny Cash Released as a single, 1956 Everybody’s baby but mine’s coming home:

There is a distinct guitar sound I have heard before in his early recordings unique to him.
