Protecting our gate

I am not really being selfish, the plastic pots are meant to shield our gate from vehicles that maneuver. Take note that our gate was destroyed by an SUV a few years back and during the holidays, it was again destroyed by a motorcycle. Now, I don't think they will still back up on our gate.

That was really smart of you. But I think you need bigger pots

I cannot use a bigger pot because we have to carry that when our car is going or entering the gate. If the pot is heavy then it would be difficult for us.

@amitkokiladitya ehem, sometimes I think that I can make things move by just using my mind. Let me try on you.... your eyes will move, move.. move.

@Alexandoy Does the protector between those pots (in your photo) stay out there all night too?

@much2say that protector is just a model. We still have to call a sculptor to make a facsimile, waheehee.

Those plastic pots are handy. We left them last night in that position. If someone steals it, no problem, we have some more of that.

No worries with the plate number. I already know the SUV that hit our gate before. It was the same one that was hurriedly maneuvering there yesterday.

we have those plants, too.
a lot of vehicles (private, taxis, deliver vans) maneuver in front of our house and the house in from of us but thankfully all these years none have hit our gates yet

Your gate is lucky. Ours was hit twice and by the same family with different vehicles and different year.

Your pots may get run over.

It's all right if the vehicle would destroy the pots. At least our gate would be safe.

@Alexandoy That's very strange. Did they pay for the damage?

@youless yes, they shouldered the repairs.

What puzzles me is the motorcycle that was aimed at our gate and with maximum impact. It was like with intention.

Hopefully your gate will be safe now. I wonder how many plastic pots will be destroyed.

Yeah, I'm also wondering how many pots we need to maintain that defense.

@JudyEv over here it is not cheap but we have several in reserve.

@Alexandoy In Australia, such plastic pots would be very cheap. You could pick them up for almost nothing at rubbish dumps.

I hope that drivers will think twice before hitting your gate at home.

Yeah, they cannot use the front of our gate anymore for maneuvering. Our road is a cul-de-sac so some vehicles that wrongly entered had to maneuver to get out.

That's a lot of times things happen to your gate. Hope it gets better for you. Maybe having something red "stop gate" will make things safer? Last night's news, on the windward side, a man's home had 2 trucks burst into his home.and tore a big plant too. One landed on his hedges the other landed in his parlor!!! He was in another room exercising and watching tv, when it happened so he was unscathed. But still to have vehicles going to your gate and homes is so terrifying!

On the first instance that an SUV destroyed our gate, the torn part of our gate hit our car that was parked in the driveway. It was really a disgusting accident. No, I don't think any kind of signage will do the trick. They are too hard-headed.

But all covered by ins, I hope. Hmm, this is a big problem, and very dangerous situation. How to stop the unusual happenings of people crashing into your gate, got to have a solution!!!

@oahuwriter my solution is the picture and I think that is 99% effective, cheap, not risky and not injurious except to the plants.

One of the first accidents I remember my last husband having was he was driving a car, the tree covered the STop sign so he drove through and a truck hit him. His car flipped over and landed on someone's fence. He walked away but the car was useless and the person's gate was destroyed too.

It was fortunate that your husband was alive. A truck is a killer, there are many victims here of a rushing truck.

Better use big, damaged rubber tires . I pity the plants or big stone at least three big stones. You have a very nice and elegant house my friend.

Those plants are sturdy. They enjoy the sunshine as long as they get water everyday. But if you are really concerned with the plants then I would willingly let you adopt them. Fair enough, waheehee.

Some people here have no mind at all. Until now I couldn't understand why a motorcycle had hit our gate and ruined it. Quite impossible and out of logic.
