When the temperature goes down outside, we use the indoor heating device. It dries the air in the home and our skin gets dried out, also. The same thing happens to me, during the winter months. Lotion is my complete answer.

@Alexandoy Yes, once we heat the home, the furnace dries everyone out.

@kobesbuddy so it is the heat that may cause the itching?

I am also old and wrinkled but even when I was young the itch was there when the weather is cold. No lotion could pacify the itch.

I would think it is the lack of humidity that is causing the itchy skin. It happens a lot to me because we have so little humidity.

Until now the itch is still robbing me of sleep. Last night I slept at midnight but awakened by scratching my leg.

Lotion has no effect to my skin. I discovered this problem when I worked in London. I was given Caladryl lotion but it did nothing to the itch which robbed me of sleep every night.

@thelme55 I think I had tried that already as per the suggestion of my wife's sister who is a nurse.

Thank you for sharing your opinion on the itchy skin. I thought before that I was the only one experiencing this.

@Bensen32 thanks for letting me know. I thought all along that I was the only one with itchy skin.

Yes. Cold weather ften resuluts in itchy skin.
However be careful not to scratch. Scratch will make it even worse, even infection which will later be very difficult to cure.

Isn't that interesting? I wonder why your arms and legs itch when it gets cold.

It may be due to drying skin. But if it is then why don't moisturizers don't work? Maybe my skin is also abnormal waheehee.

You can say that again. When it is warm I just sweat but when it is cold this happens.

I wish my skin would agree but lotion doesn't help.

I use coconut oil and some time mustard oil to get rid of this.

I actually have tried anything that is applied, lotion or oil or even powder. Nothing helped.

I have been getting that also. I hate it. So many times I am about to fall asleep and then get an itch out of nowhere that wakes me up. My sister asks me all the time why dogs are so itchy? Dry skin. We live in a dry land. They say drinking a lot of water helps with that but even so, its so dry here normally that you will be itchy by the time you go to bed. The cold speeds that process up.
