Just in ,Taal Volcano just spewed ash, there's ash fall in our city

Taal volcano, one of the more famous volcanoes in the Philippines just spewed kilometers high ash, it would probably erupt with a threat of a volcanic tsunami since it's situated in a lake called taal lake, people there are already being evacuated as of this moment to the mainland of Batangas province. Being just a few hundred kilometers south of metro Manila ( where I am) ash fall has reached us so we already got inside and wore our dust masks. Any of you experienced a volcanic eruption? Picture is my 15 year old youngest child (younger son), inside his room and already wearing protective dust mask.

We have ashes here too and we can smell the sulfur smell outside. Me and my husband already close the windows and doors.

Yes there is the smell of sulphur so better get some protective mask. I'm afraid to turn on our ACs because it might get sucked in.

I hope that people have time to evacuate. Wear those medical masks, the volcano ashes contain chemicals, it is better to be protected. Keep safe.

Our government now is moving fast, it's the people who needs to cooperate. I'm a practical prepper so I'm ready, the dust and ash have a sulphur smell, medical and dust masks for now, no gas masks yet lol. Thank you very much for the well wishes

@louievill I remember when I climbed on the Italian volcano Vesuvius there was a terrible smell of sulfur on the top. It is disturbing. Take care.

@louievill the ash fall is still in progress. Cars with no garage are exposed to the tiny granules like black pepper.

The volcano has calmed down but the threat of another eruption is still there. We here in metro Manila could just wear medical or dust masks like what my son is wearing but those nearer ground zero were required to wear a more specialized mask called N95

@louievill I know it for precaution. Our older son was in New York Citybwhen he saw the World Trade Centers being hit. He had to walk home through ash with no protection. It still worries me.

My friend lives 65 kilometres across Taal volcano. They can see from their window the volcano view when it started to spew ash. Gladfully, the sea is between them. My friend posted stunning view photos of the Taal volcano.

That's quite near, the ash is so high I think it can be seen from as far as Sta. Rosa , Laguna. Our streets is like covered with snow. It reminds me how the Pinatubo eruption started, few ash falls untill it got stronger and our gutter collapsed from the weight of lahar. We cannot turn on the AC because it might get sucked in.

@louievill our condo unit is sandwiched between firewalls that is why ashfall is not getting through yet. But as we checked this afternoon there is already thin layer of ash in our terrace accumulating.

Hope nothing more serious would happen too, an ash spew is an indication of an eruption, tsunami would be one of the worst case scenario . Btw my eldest son is there in China right now my friend, they had been stuck anchored for days because of the fog and low visibility coupled with the heavy ship traffic along the Yangtze river.

Is it true that there's also a volcano in Japan erupting? I've read somewhere that there are 16 volcanoes simultaneously erupting including Taal, Japan and Mexico. Mt. Canlaon in Negros is reportedly spewing smoke too.

Great photo and I am glad if you are all safe and know what to do when this could happen like it has done. Prayers going out for all of your safety and protection. In Tenerife which is one of the Islands off Spain also had an eruption of a volcano there not too long back and a lot of people left and never went back because of it.

@louievill Actually I have just seen a couple of hours ago the actual eruption and it was really bad one. I can well understand how you feel about it. Yes Restinga is only a small place on the island which has an part active volcano still. A lot of the sands there are still black from the ashes too. Thanks very much for the link I have understood where you are as well.

Oh wow. I have not experienced anything like that. Except, maybe in 1991 I was a small child and remember people talking about Mt. St. Helen eruption. That's in Washington and I'm in Minnesota, so that is many thousands miles away. No real threat to us. I hope you are all safe there

We are all safe thank God but the threat of another eruption still looms. There had again been increased volcanic activity in that region and people are not yet allowed to go back to their homes. I think I read about that Mt. St.Helen eruption.

Yes, there are eruptions that spew ash hundreds of miles, in fact Mt, Pinatubo spewed so much that it remained suspended in the air and might had reached other countries, other eruptions just spew lava.
