To Laundry or Not.

that is my question.
As most of you know, last Sunday night the ashfall from the volcanic eruption in my country went far and beyond that it reaches to more than 150km. Though it was not so much but the odor is the air has not been good also.
Yesterday morning, I clean up the garage and the open areas here in my house plus gave a bath to my plants that used lots of water to clean them from the ash.
I am undecided now if I can do the laundry or not. Though the wind direction according to the report has changed, I do not want to wash the clothes then hanging them to dry realizing there will be ashes in the end.

I am so glad that you are safe, that must be terrifying.

We are also apprehensive with the wind because there are still traces of volcanic ash no matter how little. Maybe it is from the surroundings because the trees and plants still have the volcanic ash.

@Alexandoy that is true. We have trees here too plus those ashes on the roof can be blown away by the wind. I am thinking of washing only the clothing pieces urgently needed. The last time I laundry was Thursday since my son's birthday was Friday.

@rakski there's no rain yet so the leaves of the trees still carry the volcanic ashes. Maybe you can do the laundry but the drying cannot be outside.

You certainly don't want to have the laundry smelling from all the ash. Might be wise to wait just a day or so longer

You can opt to go to a laundromat that has a drier. Back home we have many of that and the clothes really get dry. What you just need to do is fold them neatly after. It might be a bit expensive but that would just be a temporary expense and that should be better than having your soiled or dirty clothes pile up which will cause you stress when the time comes that you really have to wash them when you run out of clean clothes.

Ah okay so it’s because many have thought of that as a solution.

Could you hang the clothes inside the house to avoid the ash and smell?

There isn't any point. You can do it later.

So I am sure if you put the laundry out the ash will be on it

Better do not wash yet, wait for the signal and observe your neighbors too if already good to wash clothes.

Yes, that would be a problem. I hope you can get them washed without the ash concern.
