The Witcher tv series - not quite what I was expecting!!

There's been a lot of hype around the tv series The Witcher, with people even comparing it to Game of Thrones. So, naturally, I've been dying to watch it to see what the hype is all about. Alas! so far, 7 episodes in and I'm feeling rather underwhelmed.
I feel that at this point, the show is very disjointed with many confusing subplots. There are MANY characters who aren't properly fleshed out and I'm struggling to keep up with who's who, why they do the things they do etc. While I'm fast losing interest, I want to persevere in hopes that it's a very, very slow burner.
What's worse, the show's received very mixed reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, all ranging from distinctly BAD to UTTERLY fantastic. Not since the ending of Lost and Games of Thrones has a show split opinion straight down the middle like The Witcher seems to be doing!!
Have you watched The Witcher? What's your honest opinion of the show?

Read the reviews on Rotten Tomatoes and make up your mind. I have to warn you though, the reviews are very mixed hahaha. Maybe it's one of those shows you need to watch for yourself to see where you stand. If it helps, it did start to make some sense towards the end of the 8-episode first season.

I have not seen Game of Thrones so cannot compare that to Witcher. I did watch Wither and did a post on it. I had to go back to my post to see if I liked it or not. Yes, I liked it. I saw it a while ago so cannot say anymore about it.

I'm not surprised you liked The Witcher because like I said, it has had very mixed reviews. I did do a search before posting but weirdly never saw an existent post. If you enjoyed The Witcher, I'm willing to bet you'd enjoy GoT even more :)

@Hannihar No, I was talking about The Witcher, which is touted as the best thing since Game of Thrones. I'm sure Game of Thrones was available on Netflix. But I hate that it's regional and we all get different things. Over here, it's a waste of money, so I refuse to pay a single penny towards it

I felt the same about game of thrones before I watched it and it took a while to get into.
haven't seen witcher but don't want to start something again I might not care for any way
I did grow to really like Game of thrones and really got into it only to not be able to see the very last season. Even it got on my nerves with bringing people back to life and making impossible scenerios

The Witcher is a real slow burner compared to GoT and is bound to work on your last nerve I remember asking my husband what on earth is this?! when we first started watching it and his response: Not a clue But I do believe it has the potential to become very good

I don't know if I would like this but I have heard people rave about it and seen it appear on my Netflix list. I never watched a single episode of Game of Thrones (yes I'm a rare breed! ) as I just never liked the look of it.

@Lushlala Everyone who has watched it says that but I just never liked the look of it. I'm more into stuff like The Twilight Saga. I love vampire movies.

@sprite1950 Not sure I've missed this comment in all this time - sorry, Linda. Oh, I like vampire movies too. I guess I was hoping it would be like Game of Thrones

That's the curious thing about The Witcher - many people rave about it and it has a high overall rating score. But scratch beneath the surface and you'll see very mixed reviews ranging from very bad to very good. Personally, I don't think it's all that.
Game of Thrones may not look pretty but it was brilliant and kept me hooked.

I'm glad you agree, Rebecca! It makes you wonder why some people rated it 9/10!

It was just so weird I almost gave up too. But I soldiered on right until the last episode of season 1. Things are slowly becoming clearer but it's no Game of Thrones

Like you I also found myself at a lost with the switching from the character's past and present action and involvement in the story line. The scriptwriters are to be blame, Never liked the use of flashbacks when telling a narrative. But after seven episodes I'm finding it easier to understand and follow the series. Will continue to watch.

Go ahead and try it. It might work for you. One of the reviewers did say when she first watched it, she almost stopped because she didn't initially enjoy it. So I'm gonna try stick with it LOL
