Sometimes it is Best to Give in to the Whims of Others

I just returned from a lovely early morning walk up and down our street and discovered the pretty gate in my photo, not that it has anything to do with my topic. Most of you know how I thwart my husband’s desires to buy a boat to keep in Florida and a small co-op in Manhattan. Neither are practical nor necessary. However, I bit my lip and kept my mouth shut when he ordered yet another TV. He seems to get a new one every year, and if it makes him happy, I’m happy. It’s not worth harping on in my book. The new TV was delivered yesterday and set up for a nominal fee. He is playing with it right now in our living room. He’s giving the “old” one to a friend. I’m pretty clever when it comes to my husband.

@DianneN I would not be surprised if a new model comes out before he sets up the one he bought. What I cannot understand is why he bought, he does not care at all about TV.

He had to order a 4K box or whatever that is. Our son laughed and said it’s easy to set up, but my husband is less technologically skilled than I am and that’s saying a lot! I hope your hubs sets up the new TV soon before a new model comes out.

That’s nice he is passing the tv on to a friend. My one tv was given to me by a friend about 6 years ago. It’s so heavy I can’t move it. It works but now and then the sound vibrates. Since I bought the smart tv in August I rarely use the old heavy tv.

@DianneN television prices have dropped so much over the years. I'd never bother to try to have a TV repaired.

He just spoke to his friend about delivering it soon. It’s crazy how quickly technology becomes obsolete. Such a waste of money, but it is probably best to buy a new one rather than have an old clunker repaired. Glad you have a new smart TV!

@Hannihar In Florida we have one in our living room and bedroom. In Connecticut we have one in our family room, a built-in over my desk in the kitchen, and one in our bedroom. How many do you have?

Sometimes, it is good to keep our mouth shut. As long as they are happy, why complain. Being married for a long time, taught us how to "handle" our husbands,

I must agree! Although I have to put my foot down on certain things, I still want him to be happy. The TV fits the bill, literally and figuratively.

Yah, at least a tv won't have to be maintained like a boat or a place! My sister and I bought a tv for my parents for Christmas - they badly needed an upgrade. They will probably keep that one for another million years .
