I don't know how to relax

Okay, I'll admit it.. I don't know how to relax.
If you observed me, you'd probably think that I was rather good at relaxing but that is far from the truth. My mind is always working and worrying. I've always got something that I need to consider, or something that I am stressing over.
Oh sure, I lay down and turn on the television, or open a book.. but that doesn't last long. Soon enough I am up and doing something else, worrying over something else.
Just once, I'd like to wake up and do absolutely nothing for a day and not worry over it.. Just once!
It seems the only time I am able to do that is when I am with friends, but once we've slowed down again (after eating, shopping etc) then I am back to worrying over things.
Are you a worry wort?
Can you relax?

@ScribbledAdNauseum I have more than worry. My anxiety is physical. I feel adrenaline now. And my body is very anxious. Mindfulness is a way to take a break. It helps. But sometimes I feel severe anxiety even if I am trying mindfulness exercises or relaxation exercises.

By "relax", I mean just doing things other than worrying / household chores / earning money.
Like, I can't just sit and read a book anymore, I am constantly getting up to do other things every 20 or so minutes.

@Marty1 You should try to write. Even if it's just a few words on notepad, maybe that will help your racing mind. I do find that if I allow my mind to make up a story, it helps calm me down and makes it easier for me to get things done.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I know. I haven't read a book in a year; and I used to be a voracious reader. I can't concentrate on a book.

@amitkokiladitya yes, money is such a big stressor. It's not as bad as it once was for me, but I've had lots of stress over it in the past.

I tend to worry as well. However, I try not to worry about things I can't control. However, it doesn't always work.

Yeah, same here. Oh, how I'll try not to worry, but it's so much easier said than it is done.

Well, for me, as long as my friend and I are active doing things, i do not worry. Once we are sitting down and watching t.v., or just talking, I start to worry again.

@ScribbledAdNauseum i think interaction is thr key. Just being with friends is not sufficient.

@msdivkar This is true, and I do interact with them, but there are times when things slow down, and I start to worry again. Let me explain, my best friend is like a sister more than a friend. She may leave her house and leave me there to go get something, or be in her room for an hour while she showers. I'll be in the living room, and be left to myself during these times.

It's mine too. I've been called a worry wort for most of my life. I don't think I'd know what to do if I didn't worry. It's just lately that it's caused me not to be able to relax.

Very much a worrywort here. My head is always spinning from too much thought. People think I'm calm and composed, but inside I'm a stressful blabbering wreck.

Many years ago I taught myself how to make up stories about things so as to distract myself. Sometimes that works, but here lately it hasn't helped at all.

I turn on relaxing music sometimes, and it helps. Reading helps too, but now it seems there are times when that gets disrupted too. Today was a stressful day.

@CarolDM Yes, there are songs that I can't listen to without crying - some for romance reasons, some because it makes me think of my brother.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I do that as well but i have to be careful, I love music but many songs will bring back memories. If I am trying to relax usually silence works best for me.

I can't get my mind busy on other things, unfortunately. I try, but then I start worrying again.
It's both Health and money, but more so the health.
