I've always considered purple my signature color when it comes to hair. The first time I dyed it this color (Lusty Lavender) was 6 years ago at my daughter's 8th grade graduation. She went to a very "well-to-do" school and crazy colors weren't in vogue yet, so I got a lot of stares. I didn't care. It felt right and I'm glad I did it, because since then, I haven't had a natural hair color.
When I was pregnant with my now 3 year old, I didn't bleach my hair and let the roots grow and only dyed the rest that was already blonde. I am sort of doing that again. My husband, nor the boyfriend I had before him, have ever seen my hair completely natural, so I am growing it out until it is completely brown again. Pretty much just to see how much gray there is in there lol.
I'm sure that once it is brown again, I will re-bleach it and start over, but I think my hair needs a little time to recover. I haven't bleached it in about 7 months, so I definitely have some roots in there. My curl is coming back too. Once I started bleaching it, the curl relaxed and then it came back about a year ago. NO CLUE why! It isn't nearly as beautiful and curly as my 7 year old daughter's though. Mine is really frizzy and the top always curls way more than the hair underneath. Her hair has these perfect spiral ringlets that I always wanted! Right before Kindergarten she chopped it all off and I was so upset! Since then, it has grown back beautifully and cascades down her back. My little one has much bigger curls. It looks like I put her hair in those big curlers. However, she doesn't have a whole lot of hair right now, but when it comes in fuller, it is going to be so gorgeous. My oldest daughter has straight hair, but it is thick and full, and so pretty! Can you tell I'm jealous? My hair was always thin and frizzy. Oh well, at least I get to play with their hair!
Anyway, I'm happy that my hair is no longer awkwardly blonde with brown roots. This is my favorite color because as it fades, it is a really pretty pink.
Have you ever dyed your hair crazy colors? I see more and more older women with cool hair colors, and I love it! You are never too old to express yourself!

Awesome! I never dyed, just shampoo with natural henna.
