Soriano and Lou Piniella will undoubtedly change things for the better. Under the Lou regime, there definitely won't be any slacking going on (Aramis), and they'll play good fundamental ball, something Dusty Baker couldn't spell, let alone inspire. The real question is will the Cubs outscore their opponents? The pitching staff is definitely suspect. Other than Zambrano, the Cubs staff will probably give up an average of 5-6 runs/game. Can we keep up? I hope so, it will definitely make for a more exciting season.

They have the hitting, provided they stay healthy. Lou will be a lot tougher on them than Dusty was and I think he will make better decisions. I am stil upset with Dusty for pulling Prior in the playoff game in 2003, with a 3-1 lead. He put in the headcase Farnsworth and the rest is bad Cubbie history!
Soriano was a great player to sign.
It is all going to boil down to pitching. Can the starters, aside from Big Z because we know he can, put in a good 7-8 innings and let the closer, which I hope will be Wood not Dempster, finish it off. Of course, if Dempster can keep his confidence and head in the game, he can be tremendous, also. However, he can be downright awful at times when we need him the most.
I am already nervous, excited for this season to begin. Go Cubbies!!!
