Spending All My Savings...

Today, I think I've cleaned out almost everything from my savings account. I owe myself some that I'd had to take out for other things. Christmas 2018, my husband gave me a money box. He instructed me that I must save at least £2 per week. I managed to save more. Husband said that I was to save it until the end of 2019 when I could spend it on myself - and only myself (which is why I owe myself some because I'd spent part of it on not myself). Anyway, I have a list of ideas for how I might spend it all. Today, I booked something exciting (well, I think it's exciting). I've booked activities at Bear Grylls Adventure. One of them is a shooting activity, which I will do with husband, youngest son, my friend and her son. Friend's son wanted to shoot last time we went but we'd booked different activities so I thought it'd be nice to do that this time. It's also something my husband can do. They do say they can adapt all the activities for disabled visitors, though. The thing I've booked just for myself, though, is a 'Big 5 Package'. One of the activities on offer is a scuba dive. I have been wanting to try scuba diving for a while (I did enquire at a scuba diving place a couple of years ago but couldn't do it at the times available). The package also includes iFly, which is an indoor skydive. I've done a real skydive before, which I enjoyed but would not do again! I did enjoy the experience. I just didn't enjoy the feeling of my stomach and my mouth trying to swap places as I went from plane to free fall. The dive and the iFly are available separately but, if you want to do both, they're cheaper as a package. The package also includes archery, high ropes, and climbing. I love archery, and climbing is another thing I've always wanted to do (I've abseiled but not climbed - unless you count climbing the old pit bank with my dad when I was younger). So that's what I will be doing. I'm quite looking forward to it. I did try to get someone to come with me but it is expensive and nobody I know was prepared to do the dive. I'm more anxious about travelling to the place by myself than I am about the activities! I've booked it for mid-March, and I've booked the shooting for the beginning of May. I still have a long list of things I'd like to do. Perhaps I'll do them next year if I continue to do so well with my savings. Anything exciting in your future? What would justify you spending your savings?

Good for you! You are much more adventurous than I am. My grandson did that iFly thing and loved it. Have fun whatever you decide.

It's only really been in the past few years that I've become adventurous. The most exciting thing I did previously was a walk for charity! Someone volunteered me for a skydive (which was to raise sponsors in aid of a local children's hospice charity). Since then, I've been wanting to do everything.

Nothing exciting going on here. I"m glad you have such exciting plans! I would probably just save the money since I don't need anything; and I can't travel.

Would you want to travel if you could, though? I sometimes feel that my husband misses out on these things with me because of his health. But then he reminds me that he's already done it all and more before I met him!

@kepweng Travelling can be expensive. My best friend is someone who might be described as an extrovert. She went on a singles holiday last year (I think it was last year, might have been the year before). Travelled on her own to Croatia, and she seemed to come back a different person! So much more self-confidence (but still an introvert)!

@pumpkinjam DEFINITELY. We planned on traveling a lot when we retired; but that couldn't happen.
