The first thing you notice about “Waterfront” is the relentless driving bass. A single note bassline runs throughout the song. Add heavy keyboards to the mix and you have a great rocking new wave song. “Waterfront” is a prime example of how dominant the always prowling the stage lead singer Jim Kerr is. His voice stands on the pantheon of the new wave era. From the album “Sparkle in the Rain,” the group credited “Waterfront” reached UK #13 while going #1 down in New Zealand. The single went uncharted in the US but nevertheless became one of the band’s most popular songs.
