Do You Ever Find Food Boring To Eat?

I do!! We tend to eat the same 7 meals every week. I do the cooking and John helps me with the washing-up..but it's not that I'm fed up with, it's the food itself.
I realise that our tastebuds alter as we get older but - I dunno - food (especially meat) just doesn't taste the same as it did when I was a child. Also, we are restricted with our finances so there's nothing of gourmet quality in this house!
Sometimes I think I should 'go vegan' as it seems a very popular thing to do here in the UK at the moment. Even Greggs the bakers has a 'vegan sausage roll.' Mmmm, I bet THAT'S yummy...NOT!
I have also realised that chocolate has lost its appeal. I used to love the stuff but now I get bored with it.
I'm not one of those people that gets addicted to certain types of food but the only food I like at the moment are salted peanuts! A friend of mine used to suck the salt off them, then put them on a tray for me to finish off..
Mmm, I reckon there's a dirty joke in there somewhere but I will leave that to er..you lot!

I work in a kitchen so eat lots of different stuff and as I'm often on my own I make some weird concoctions
The vegan stuff is a mixed bag...we buy in lots of vegan stuff so I try most of it and some is amazingly tasty whereas other stuff is like eating cardboard...and I mean that as for an experiment I had pastry from a certain pie then had some cardboard and there genuinely wasn't much difference
That being said I've had some vegan/veggie sausages that were really nice and gregs sausage roll is really very nice you should give it a try.

Hiya Mike! How I love your sense of humour!
I believe there was a massive queue outside Greggs in Newcastle when this vegan sausage roll came out. I often wonder, though, what does the pastry consist of? How is that made? I guess it must be dairy free butter or something.

@Janey1966 vegan pastry has flour but also olive oil which I think acts as the egg.
Never made it myself but have tasted it and found it bloody awful.
Just yesterday I had some lindo mccartney veggie sausages...i think they were red onion and rosemary and they were very very nice.
Vegan pastry is often nasty but veggie stuff isn't bad at all.
Our normal sausages at work are 85% meat red tractor but I do actually prefer the veggie type.

Yes, I like dark chocolate too but I try not to eat too much of it lol. I guess I'm lucky that I'm not allergic to anything in particular so I sympathise. However, nuts in general are very fattening so I have to limit how many I have, otherwise I'd be massive!

I tend to go through phases with certain foods. I will eat a certain thing every day religiously and then grow tired of it after a few weeks or so and it will take a while before I am finally in the mood for it again. I also tend to be more sensitive to textures than tastes. There are certain textures I can only take in small amounts, and others that are just unpalatable.

Thank you for your interesting comment. I know what you mean about 'phases.' We do try to vary our diet from time to time but it's difficult, plus the fact the actual choices aren't that inspiring to begin with.

I go off chocolate every now and then, but do come back to it. Same with other foods. And sometimes I don't feel like eating at all.

Today we had burgers (bought from the supermarket we usually go in) and I couldn't eat mine, ended up giving them to John. I hope I don't end up like my Dad. He hardly ate anything later on in his life.

Sounds like it's time for a menu change! It doesn't have to be gourmet . . . it is possible to make things differently even with the same ingredients. Growing up, we didn't have the same meal all the time, but my mom tended to make things the same way all the time . . . I'm more of a variety person so I try to cook that way for my family.

There are only 2 of us in this household and hubby is the one that will eat virtually anything. I'm the fussy one of the two. Mum is a great cook as she does it now to fill up time. I want everything done a lot quicker because I haven't got the patience!

@Janey1966 Ah - my mom doesn't like to cook anymore but she still has to - but my dad gets bored of her stuff. If I cook, they know they will get something "different" - and they truly appreciate it, but I can't cook for them all the time. I remember a fellow mom who only liked less-than-15-minute cooking - oh I wish every recipe were like that!

It's funny that isn't it? Food that's considered 'bad' for us is food we all like to eat.
