It has become a major concern of the CDC and about every country on the planet. Stay safe and keep up dated. It makes me wonder, why the US has done nothing to stop incoming airplanes from effected countries. Looks as if America will act like it's no biggy until it has turned into a more serious situation.

Governments are like that. They wait until the situation gets out of control before they implement stricter measures.

@lookatdesktop
But some reports tell that US airports are scanning incoming passengers from China.
Or is it being done only at a few airports?

@JudyEv even Hongkong look like a ghost town now. All stores are closed for the fear of getting contaminated. As per the news, this virus scare is a big blow to the economy of China that also affects the other countries.

That is one thing that is also scary. Why hide the truth?

@Alexandoy I guess they don't want to create a panic. And tourists will stop going there if they believe the disease is widespread.

The ban on travel would be a big problem. Countries with personnel in Wuhan City are now requesting to allow their personnel to go back home. What if those people are already contaminated?

@Alexandoy the military men in Beijing?why were they rude?

@amadeo when we were entering the Tiananmen Square, they were frisking the people like we were criminals. And there were 3 checkpoints, the first one is about 50 meters from the gate, the second is by the gate and the last is after the gate. It is scary to think what if they find something illegal in my bag?

We were in Beijing 3 years ago. I can imagine the travel restrictions they are implementing now. Their military men are kind of rude.

It's worrying to be sure but I've read in a couple of publications that they're close to making a vaccine or some sort of treatment.
Slightly off topic...15 years ago I started hearing about "preppers" the people that plan for disasters.
Back then whilst interested I still thought it was a bit of a joke...I certainly don't think so now and am thinking about becoming a prepper in a small way.

I agree that there is a potential of an apocalypse so the preppers would be rewarded with their preparations.

So far Philippines does not have officially declared that we have our own local infection yet. All suspects are infected because they came from China and they are still confirming if they got the virus. Everyone is alarmed indeed, good thing the volcano is simmering down and our focus right now is vigilance over this virus entering and spreading to local population. I just hope China would contain this from spreading out further.

@rsa101 whether tourists or not, there's a lot of them from China so the probability of one infected to enter is high.

It doesn't work if people stay in panic. Actually this Chinese New Year many of us have a peaceful vacation. We will stay at home most of the time and we no longer visit each other. The supple is normal and it is really no need to be in panic. As long as we pay more attention to our own hygiene and avoid going out, then there will be less infection and this will change the situation to be better.

@Alexandoy Of course we will be more careful to it at present. This is why many people stay at home during this period.

One of the suspect, a Serbian national, who travelled to Goa via a city in China some 750 kms away from Wuhan, has already been quarantined in special cell created by Goa Medical College and Hospital. He was complaining about symptoms close to that of coronavirus.

@simone10 a virologist who was interviewed in a French news channel said that the origin of the virus was a bat that it somehow mutated when it transferred to a human.

Aside from the cure, the prevention is the most important. They should know what started the contamination.
