I was up quite late last night baking a birthday cake and cookies to send to my son. It will be his birthday in a few days but since he is in another province I often send him a care package that includes a birthday cake and other goodies. I got the box all packed today and it is on its way. It will take a few days to get there so I hope the cake is still edible and not totally crushed. Do you receive or send out care packages?

@Freelanzer That was so nice what you did for your son. Actually the post office likes to lose my packages.

@Freelanzer I had to change post offices, but, then where I have a PO Box something happened and I do not like it there either. I am glad you are lucky and hope it stays that way.

Not really. My mother used to a long time for my brother when he was in college. But that's a good idea to do it for your son too.

I'm sure he will enjoy the cake, crushed or not. No, I've never sent a care package.

Yes it all started when he was away at college but he never returned and is working there now, so the care packages continue for his birthday.

How do you package up the cake so that it doesn't get destroyed?

I place it in a container like cookie tin or a plastic container and hope for the best. I have asked my son if it reached in tact in the past he wouldn't say exactly (he is very polite) Anyway he says he likes it so I guess it was still edible.
