Do you reuse or recycle old items?

A lot of household rubbish goes to a landfill facility or to a recycling plant but if you have something which is simply worn out or broken would you find another use for it or would you buy a new product? Would you throw away a cracked mirror, for example, or would you find another use for the frame? My wife is a great reuser of broken things (I'm her second husband ) and won't throw anything away if she sees another possible use for it. Not only does this save money but it helps the planet a little by saving something for further use instead of buying again.

I have trouble keeping hold of things that are still being put to good use in their original purpose. Mrs. WorDazza is a demon for clearing out stuff she deems is not in regular enough use!!

We always use things up until they're not usable anymore. We find alternate uses for items when we can and donate what we can.

My wife actually buys quite a lot of clothes from charity shops. She has had some real bargains - quality labels for pennies!

I think it's fun to see what can be made from old or broken things and it sure saves money. I do a lot of it myself, first out of necessity when I was young and broke, but now it's just fun and I'm kind of a cheapskate anyway.

Necessity is probably the main reason most folks recycle but some do it in an attempt to save the planet - every little helps

That's probably the best of both choices.

We have a lot of bits and pieces in the form of timber, iron, steel, etc, stacked (neatly) outside. Inside I save lots of things too.

@ScotMac And as soon as you throw something out, then you suddenly find you could have used it.

I have found that if I keep something for long enough I will find a use for it

I try to use what we got as much as we can, but if it is not very good anymore, then I have to get rid of it.

Everything eventually gets so worn out or damaged that there is no choice but to bin it

Yes, I do recycle things. I have made tires into flower pots for example.
