What are your requirements in giving out your trust?

Trust is earned. We cannot just trust people because we like them. It is also to be be given with limitations because a little of misunderstanding could ruin it. It must be valued too since it would be difficult to restore the trust that once broken.

I once read a sign that said " In God we trust, everyone else pays cash".

i think most of us trust at first, until something happens and we learn to be wary with them afterwards. however, once in a while, we also encounter people with whom we just don't feel at ease right from the beginning.

@ZedSmart sometimes wrong, sometimes right. but of course all of us don't want to be judged unfairly and hope for second chances

I've never really thought about requirements to giving my trust. I tend to trust people in general unless I have a particular reason not to, even if that reason is a feeling or instinct. As I get to know people, I'll learn whether I can trust them, how much I can trust them, and with what I can trust them. General trust (such as trusting someone to be honest or not have ulterior motives) is given unless it is broken. Anything beyond that must be built up and earned by demonstrating trust through little things. There are different people I trust with different things.

I always trust people until they show that they don't deserve to be trusted. But it is more rare than you seem to believe.

Yes, you are right. There are just people in our circle who have two faces.

I don't trust someone until I know I can. I feel that if you trust someone and then find out later that they aren't trustworthy, who gets hurt? You do, not them. Trust needs to be earned. What do you have to lose by not trusting someone? Nothing. But by trusting the wrong person you may have something to lose, depending on what you trusted them with. I don't expect anyone to trust me, either - how do you know you can? You don't, only I know that. That's my opinion.
