Dang landlords!

Our landlord is weird. He basically wants our apartments to look like nobody lives here. Horse Jr.'s mom had a beautiful display of plants on her balcony. Gone. Recently, the lady who works at the front desk apologetically asked me to remove my snow peas, which were hanging down (very pleasingly) from my balcony. Of course, the stems snapped as I was trying to "reel them in." I gobbled up the four or five snow peas present (yummy), gave thanks to the vines, and tossed them in the dumpster. If I owned an apartment complex, I wouldn't want cars on blocks in the parking lot, or drying clothes hanging high in the wind, but I'd want the place to look "homey"and lived in. Oh well.

That's pretty petty really. Surely a nice show of flowers and plants is a good thing.

I would certainly agree. I have no idea where their "policies" are coming from.

Perhaps they plan to do some maintenance on said balconies and forgot to mention it? That rail sure looks like it could use a good sanding and repainting.

That is why no rented accommodations for me. I am fine with smallest of homes, but it should not be rented. I love my independence to live as I please.

That would be nice, wouldn't it? I actually took a picture of where *I* sanded and repainted a support post in front of my apartment after some sloppy work. I forgot to write a MyLot post about it.

Here is something you will hate me for...I have coriander, tomatoes, peas, curry leaves, and chillies (peppers) all coming up, apart from basil, money plant, and a scented leaves plant. I will add more curry leaves plants this rainy season. And change the soil in tomato pots by end of the month to plant tomatoes once more. I also have plans to plant cucumber later in the year. Do you know I carry water up to these plants? Fatso vanny does that. Imagine! LOL If there is anything I love, its spending time with plants .. of course, music and plants and nobody else around will be divine.

@BarBaraPrz :) I bet Pony is feeling jealous of me. We do not have classy stuff life you all. And we are not as rich as you all too. But we are happy folks. I at least own this apartment. My househelp, who has just three pots and lives in rented house, was gushing about the scented leaves plant and the money plant she took from from. They are growing she says. And she is planning to buy another small one to plant aloe vera which is considered auspicious out here. My father said he will get it for me. Lets see. :)

Booooo - plants/greenery make a place look nice! When we were at the last apartment complex, the landlord was pretty strict about what can or cannot go on our balconies.

I have 2 planters outside my door. They are from Mexico. One is a rabbit and the other is a cat. The flowers in them (during warm weather) make me smile.

That's one of the downsides to renting. It's not yours. You have to live by the rules of the person who owns the property and has a financial interest in it. I DO think this seems a bit over the top, mind you. BUT, it is their perogative. It's yours at their will.

Where my sister lives there are rules about high tall plants can be outside and how many potted plants you can have on your porch. You cannot have bird feeders, etc. I am with you on this.

What's wrong with bird feeders? Are they against innocent things that bring people joy?

that sounds like an HOA (for a subdivision) rather than an apartment owner! Or an owner looking to sell the building...

Oh snap. I hope they don't sell my house from under me. I hate moving. Yes, my friends with HOAs get driven nuts by the absurd rules (and the fees).
