Oh, That Water!

Remember that Berlin song, “Take My Breath Away”? That’s what happened to me this morning on the drive down the Keys. Just as you turn the corner and hit that first bridge on the Overseas Highway, you see it. That water. That incredible aquamarine-colored water. For most of the next 100 miles or so, that’s what you’re going to see: that beautiful hue of water. I’ve watched videos on You Tube of people driving on the Overseas Highway (US 1 from Florida City to Key West), and that water just eats every scene up. But, as usual, the videos are no match for seeing it in person. Especially that first glimpse. It took my breath away. Time and time again. I spent the entire day staring at that gorgeous water as if I would never see it again. And still I want to run out at first light and see it again. Oh, that beautiful, beautiful water.
