And now to Baby Dee

So in my last post I told you about Baby J, one of the two foster babies my sister and brother-in-law have right now. Test results showed baby J is part Native American, so Cherokee officials are looking for a Cherokee home for her.
That brings me to baby Dee. If you recall (and bless you if you actually do), Baby Dee came to my sister's family at three days old. After a few weeks the birth mother got her back (although she had abused her first child) because the judge said, well she hasn't abused THIS child. No surprise then that a week later Baby Dee was hospitalized because the birth mother poured hot water over her bottom half. Way to go, court system.
Anyway, the judge told both parents if you do this, this, and this (like take parenting lessons, getting a job) you can get custody back. Anyway, a warrant has been issued for the bio mom so she's pretty much gone from the situation at this point (she won't get a job, but will spend $600 on a tattoo).
The bio dad isn't that bright, and he seems to lack the mental ability to take care of a child. He also keeps trying to get money from my sister's family. He missed his last court date, and if he doesn't make the next one his parental rights will be severed. They both have had so many chances.
Amyra wants to keep baby Dee because, in her words, Dee is half her (black), and half Hudson (white). I really hope they can adopt her.

@AmbiePam really sad to think that they are the parents. God entrusted to them a baby and look what they are doing.

I am glad your sister and her husband are caring for both babies, meanwhile.

I hope they can do it. And I´m so sorry that there re so many neglected babies yet it is so difficult to adopt them.

Custodial parents that are abusive I think permanently should lose custody until they prove they can complete an extensive parent training course. The court's need to err on the side of caution with this. I realize there are not enough foster families, but a grouphome would be better than returning them to be asued. I I hope J or Dee will be part of your sister's family!

I have never been able to understand giving a child back to an abuser.

I hope so. It's a shame that some babies must suffer while others are so loved.
