How to make money on the internet! (Business is picking up.)

How can you make money on the internet? My favorite way is to have something you make, or something you do, and advertise it on Craigslist.
My speaker restoration "business" seems to be picking up this month. I'm working on a pair of vintage KLH 6s, and will earn $100 for the job. Someone just sent me pictures of a really badly damaged Fisher amplifier cabinet, and was happy when I told him I'd charge only $60 for the restoration. And someone might stop by today and listen to a pair of ADS 400 loudspeakers that I'm selling.
And then there's the naughty naughty man who owed me $3000 and then proceeded to pass away. I'm going to head to Palo Alto and pick up some vintage stereo gear worth about $2000 today. I think the man I'm meeting is the lawyer for the executor of the will.
As you know, I really enjoy this restoration work. I enjoy the process as much as the product. Maybe I'll treat myself to a new mandolin or something if everything goes as planned.
I'll attach a picture of the KLH 6s I'm working on. I've hit the oiling stage, where the grain "pops." It makes me happy.

That's lot of work, restoring can be more laborious than making a new one. What about materials to be used?

It's not really that much work. I use on;y sandpaper, Orange oil, wood filler, replacement veneer, and wood glue. Oh, and 0000 steel wool to apply the oil. Making a speaker like this from scratch would be labor-intensive and expensive!

@TheHorse glad it comes easy for you. Our old church is.undergoing restoration and it's been years in the process and still not completely. Hard to find the materials.

Doesn't take much to make you happy, does it?

I saw that picture on Fbook earlier I think. When you accepted my friend request I looked at the notification and was like...who is that? Took me a minute, even though I added you. Because I don't think I have ever used your actual name before.

I haven't put this photo on Facebook. But I've put similar one there in the past. I usually say "Reality Show Update." The running joke is that I have a Reality Show about refinishing speakers (it would be about as exciting as Deadliest Catch or watching paint dry). It's kind of like my monthly "Have you set your monthly MyLot goal" posts here. People expect it, and it's just kind of silly. But I admit that Iove showing off my work. It's an odd hobby, and I'm proud of my attention to detail.

@TheHorse I was scrolling and the other half said that the most recent one was done really well. So you have our vote of confidence. Weren't you making coasters for a little while a few years ago?

You are an artist in this restoration field from the pic there. I am planning to re-coat the surface of our bathroom vanity but I will have to wait for the right time & right weather/temperature. (I had thought of this several years ago : recoating that set and a dinning table. Perhaps I will do them this year.)

@TheHorse Good question! I did the staining & vanishing (is that the right terminology?) five years ago to our timber handrail (we had our extension at the time, another floor). I think I still have the materials somewhere in the shed.
I will research again before really doing it (I have to babysit kids during the years, just the younger relatives and neighbors' kids etc, so can't do this dusty business until the end of the year).

You are good with your restoration work. It's good that you make decent money from that.

Side money, no matter where it comes from, is always nice to have and fun to make. I have many alternative streams of income, and while each may be nominal (some are better than others of course), together they add up to some pretty interesting dollars.
