I love to crochet but I also knit. To be honest, I find knitting much easier than crocheting but knitting takes longer to finish unlike crocheting. I can finish a coaster in under an hour but when I knit, I can’t make a really nice looking coaster.
Above is a picture of one of my crocheting project. I like to crochet bags and this bag uses the entrelac stitching technique. How many of you here crochet and knit and which do you prefer?

Thank you. It’s true crocheting is much faster. And being someone who gets bored easily, I always choose crocheting over knitting as I can finish a project much faster. But knitting is so much easier than crocheting. If you make a mistake in crocheting, you have take out everything but knitting is different. You can just address the error down the row except for when you do cable stitches.

@LadyDuck This is why I always have multiple projects that I do concurrently. When I’m bored with one, I will pick up another project. And when I’m bored with that, I will return to the previous one. But at times, I forget what hook I use. And that would be such a bummer.

Do you mean if I sell the stuff that I made? I used to when I was younger and had friends. Right now, I don’t really go out or make friends so I crochet and knit for fun and some I made for family. I do like to sell them but I don’t want to sell them on Etsy or other online platfoorm.

@rakski My daughters thought so too. But I’m not really into marketing or such thing. Perhaps I could just try to list them on Etsy. I do make amigurumi too. I made a Batman amigurumi for my daughter and an Ironman amigurumi for my son-in-law. They love it. I feel that being appreciated for what I did is priceless.

I love to crochet a few years ago but now I stopped. I find it difficult to follow instructions some are complicated. I was able to make heart shape pin, head band, cellphone case, oreo key chain, rings. I still have many threads and I have complete set of needles with different sizes I ordered online

When I started to look for tutorials online, I didn’t know there are many complicated patterns that had been invented, mostly by Russian crocheters. And since their tutorials are in their language, I can hardly follow their instructions. There are many less complicated patterns that you can do. As long as you know how to make a chain, a single crochet, double crochet and triple crochet, I think you’re good to go. Most crochet patterns just use these basic patterns especially amigurumi which only use single crochet stitches.

@averygirl72 Even though there are two colours, I crocheted one colour at a time. It’s like magic. Hehe. That is the magic of entrelac stitch. It looks like the colours are next to each other but in fact, they are crocheted one at a time.

@UmiNoor The one in the picture you post, the bag looks complicated to me because it uses two different color of yarn. I know all the basics. I enjoyed crochet before but now I lose interest. Maybe I will try to revive my interest in crocheting

Thank you. I crocheted this for my daughter. She bought the yarns so many years ago but didn’t do anything with them so when she spring cleaned her room, she gave all the yarns that she had bought to me so in return for her generosity, I made her this bag.

It’s all in the pattern and stitches. Knitting stitches are much more compact and close whereas crochet stitches are not that much compact. It takes someone who has knitted and crocheted to tell the difference. If you haven’t done either, it’s understandable that you can’t tell the difference.

I used to crochet before I got married and had learnt to both crochet knit. In fact was good at both. The marriage and kids and family put an end to all my hobbies. Now after a gap of 30 years I have bought wool and crochet needle sets. In fact these will now come in handy during our quarantine time at home. I just a few weeks back made a teddy bear. Now have started a baby sweater. In between working from home and my household chores I hope to make some more stuff.

pretty bags. My mother loved to cross-stitch and crochet. She had made a blanket once.
