I know most of us has songs assoviated with our parents. We grew up hearing them sing along a song or hum them always. In my part , these particular songs are the favorites of my late father: My Way Tie A Yellow Ribbon Love Boat Whenever i hear them over the radio i remember him. One time during lunch break at the office , I sing along at We Sing, the song My Way. Before I knew it, my tears were rolling down my face. I miss my father so much. What about you guys? I miss you all here . I am always so busy now at the office. When i get home, of course i have to pay attention to my husband.

Growing up, my parents listened to Japanese Enka music (I guess one could call it like folk songs?). I don't hear Japanese music randomly here, but on occasion I might spot certain Japanese singers from the past - and then I think of my parents. I do remember that my mom did like The Beatles' "Yesterday" or Elvis' "Can't Help Falling in Love".

I miss you, too, but I understand how busy you are at work and at home. You must be exhausted. I’m just so happy to see you whenever you find the time to visit. My father had a beautiful voice and sang all the time. He even sang with Frank Sinatra once! My mother liked Rock.

My father's favorite song was the Danish version of Isle of Capri. He used to sing that, and I can't listen to the English or Danish version of that song without thinking of him.

@SIMPLYD I also think it is a beautiful song and it is very old. In my childhood I only knew the Danish version of the song, but later I also listened to the English version.

Wow, your father loves opera. He must have a high taste on music. I think it is understandable.that your mother loves Italian songs because she's an Italian.

Yes, those were the songs of their times. And the popular way of playing them is through the stereo (plaka). Do you have a stereo too during those times?

For my parents, each one had a particular Christian hymn and when I hear it it reminds me of them. For my father it was "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot". For my mother, it was "His Eye is on the Sparrow".

See, you also have one song associated with them. So both are fond of those respective songs. As to my mother, i haven't heard her sing at all. Nor ,play any disc on the stereo, so i can't associate a song with her.

@SIMPLYD - My mother's favorite song was sung by a well-known entertainer named Ethel Waters. I was able to actually find the video on YouTube where she sang that song in a movie.

My way is a person favorite and I like all the versions I have heard by various artists. Truck driving songs always remind me of my Dad, done 24 years now. I am fortunate enough to still have mom. There are some country songs that always make me think of her, a lot of songs by the group Alabama, they are one of her favorites.

I can very much relate to that. Music was something that made my parents meet. My mom sang and dad played tabla. There are many songs that we sang with my mother. Many interesting and touching lyrics that we discussed at length. Listening to them brings back so many memories
