No Free Time?

hello myLot, how are you? I recently got a new job and I have been so busy. That's great for making money but I've been so busy I've had no time to paint! I know that seems silly but taking time to draw is important to me, it's how I relieve stress. @DocAndersen shared a beautiful beach photo and they allowed me to paint it. The top painting is referencing their photo, and the two on the bottom are inspired by that. Thank you again for letting me use your photo. Even just painting something small like this calms me down so much. Have you ever been so busy you couldn't enjoy a passion project? What projects would you work on if you had free time? *painting by me

@florelway I took a class at a community college and had art classes in high school but other than that I just watched videos online to see techniques. you can learn almost anything with the power of YouTube

I wish I had the artistic talent that you have! I definitely can see how painting is a great stress reliever for you. It would be the same way for me I think. Your artwork came out great! I have been trying for several years now to create scrapbooks of family trips to Disney World, and document chronologically all of our adventures. I haven’t made hardly any progress so far.

@isweartokira My kids are helping me with the project. We're going to create one scrapbook for each year (we go to Disney a lot). We've been going every year since my daughter was born, so we have 20 years of memories (so we'll have 20 scrapbooks when we're finished). We've bought the scrapbooks, and the pages we want to put in them, and we've started sending all of our digital photos in to be printed (we have thousands of photos). We've also started writing down all of our fun memories, and figuring out what year they took place, and so our goal is to hopefully create a chronological timeline of memories from all of our visits. It's going to be a daunting task, but we're making good headway. It's fun looking at all the photos, because certain photos will trigger specific memories. The one thing I wish we could do, but we're not having much luck, is identify the specific room at the specific resorts we stayed at on all of our visits. I know Disney as an electronic record of all that, but we have no way to access it. For about the past 5 years, we've been pretty good at taking photos of our room and room number, but going back past that it gets kind of fuzzy. We've probably identified about a third of the resorts we've stayed in over the years, but as we keep moving forward with the project we keep remembering more and more details.

@moffittjc this is honestly such a cool project! I'm bad about taking pictures so I don't think I could properly record every visit like this. I wish you the best of luck remembering all the little details of your past trips :) will you share photos of the finished project?

thank you! I want to get better, I just haven't had the time lately to practice I hope you find time for your scrapbook idea (and I hope you share it on here when you're done), that's a very good project. even if you just set aside ten minutes a day to work on it, you'll have it done in no time :)

So beautiful! I like to paint too, but only by number. I find that quite relaxing. I need to look for another one.

I love your interpretation of Doc’s photo! I’m as free as could be now that I’m retired. My passion is living on the water and reading all day long if I want. Congratulations on your job! Can you share what it is?

Since I have this job that I love, free time is very limited, as I usually work 7 days per week. That keeps me away from some things, but comparing of what I had when I had a 5 days job, now it is much better. I would like to read more or take small road trips, but my job has priority.

Work does that to you. Definitely. But you have to make money. The key is not to spend it all, put away as much as you can, invest it wisely, and one day you won't have to work anymore. You can just live off what you saved OR work less since dividends and interest can fill the gaps of needing to work full time.

but that's why it's so fun! it doesn't have to be "perfect" because there's no such thing. look at abstract art, it's weird as heck but I bet it's fun because it's so random looking. and thank you
