Cat on the wall

Recently I was running a training course in an army museum. At tea break we would gather on a short stairwell over which this fine chap presided. Now, generally speaking, trophy animal skins are not appreciated in the UK and I was surprised to see this one proudly displayed, albeit off the beaten visitor path. The poor cat was killed in 1931, a time when such things were acceptable. I remember as a small boy my grandmother had a tiger skin in her lounge; in fact I cannot recall when I last saw one outside of a museum, certainly the average home does not possess such a thing.

We were in the Royal Palace Museum in Kathmandu and there were stuffed animal heads, feet and whole bodies all over the place. Skins on the floor and a gavial /gharial skin on a stairwell wall. That was a bit different. Unfortunately they didn't allow photos on inside.
