You know you are an addicted writer when...

Is anyone else out there like me? Addicted to writing. For me, it doesn't really matter if it's a keyboard or a pen and paper. I write and write and write... If you are not sure if you are an addicted writer then see how many of these resonate with you... You know you are an addicted writer when - You have a stash of notebooks, some used and some not - It bothers you that you might run out of blank notebooks - You always find yourself hovering near the stationary section of a shop eyeing up those books and pens - You are constantly writing lists. About anything. You will even add to a list just to cross it off again - You find yourself waking in the night with the urge to get something down - You love the sight and feel of a new pen, but they need to just 'be right' - You also love the feel of starting a brand new book. Like a whole blank canvas - You journal - about everything and anything - You have a book for this, and a book for that, plus a miscellaneous book. That's of course not forgetting all the blank ones - You get excited when you find places you can write like on here or article sites - Social media is your friend. Because you can write away and you don't even care if no one reads it - When you find that you are constantly on your phone. Writing. Texts, updating the statuses, writing notes to yourself. - You find yourself drifting off a lot and just staring at walls - As you go through your day, ideas of something to write keep cropping up - Of course, then you have to get out a notebook and jot it down - When writing by hand you are not happy when you make a mistake early on, on a page. You start out so neatly, and by the end, it's scribbled as the words flow faster than you can write - You need to learn to speed type, or you just can't keep up with yourself - You love to read, in fact almost as much as you love to write. Every book sparks more ideas. And yes out comes that notebook - If you need to contact someone, you would much rather message or email than phone or meet and talk - You find yourself getting snappy or annoyed when people interrupt you mid-sentence and you lose your flow - You are the one that spots the spelling mistakes in shops, cafes etc. And you constantly have the urge to point it out. In fact, I normally do as they bug me. - You love book shops and libraries. The books, the smell, the atmosphere. You just love them. Even if you don't buy or borrow, you can happily while away the time in them - When you just sit and write out a post like this when I should be doing my dinner... Just because. Anyone else like me?

I used to write a lot more than I do now. I haven't written any poems or lyrics in a very long time. At least I am reading more now, which is great.

Ahh why did you slow down? Have you considered getting back into it? The world always needs new poems and lyrics. Glad to hear you are reading more though. I guess both have their bonuses. I used to write poems too. Kids poetry. But I stopped doing that ages ago. I found my folder of them the other day, as I have just moved, and it got me thinking about starting them up again.

@eveeexpress I just have to open up Word and start writing... I don't do that. And I have no idea what is stopping me.

@lovebuglena Do it.. I reckon once you start you'll find it hard to stop. And to be honest there is no reason to stop. Hope you get started.

Not so much. I write but mostly short comments. There are some days when I skip it without problems.

It just shows how everyone is different. I haven't actually met anyone else like me who is actually addicted like me. This is why I started up a website so I could write and write. You are ok, you're safe, you are not in the addicted stage if you are able to skip it Thanks for commenting.

@mrki444 If you have the time to do it, then I say go for it. There is no better feeling than writing for your own site :) I started mine up a few years ago. Life got in the way, when my fiance passed away, but I got back into it, and it's doing well. It's such an amazing feeling watching it grow and grow.

That definitely describes me! I'm currently writing this while at work because I am bored. I have two notebooks by my side. There are scraps of paper and other emergency notepads everywhere I go. The list thing - I'm so glad I'm not the only one who writes something just to cross it off. I get frustrated if I have nothing to write or if I can't for any reason. While in the office, I'll work on some of my writing when we have some quiet time! I think my husband finally understands that writing is not just a hobby but a need that I can not live without!

@eveeexpress Yes, we certainly do, we were, and it is very lovely to meet you. Another person from the UK as well. I've just had a quick look at the link to the website on your profile. Is that you own?

You know we sound like two peas in a pod. I'm with you on the scraps of paper, and the frustration at times. I think we were just born to write! Oh and great to meet another list adder/crosser offer

Some of what you have written is referring to me. Coincidence?

Not at all. I don't believe in coincidence. I am a law of attraction blogger, and if this is resonating with you in any way, then keep writing! That's all I can say. Take it as a reason to keep going :)
