Well, I think for the first year ever I forgot pancake day and I love them. I think it's because I am now living on my own, and had no one to remind me. I only remembered when I saw pancakes splattered all over social media, looking very nice indeed. Me, well I ordered a curry. Don't get me wrong it was very nice! But now plans to do my pancakes tonight has gone out of the window as there was so much curry stuff turn up last night, I have to do round 2 tonight. It was a right 'toss up' between making them tonight or having the rest of my curry and not wasting it. Curry 1: Pancakes 0 Oh well next year it is! I think I will give up on them for this year.

You could always have dosas (or maybe parathas) with your curry and kill two birds with one stone! Anyway, pancakes aren't just for Lent - you can have them any time, if you like them! I made pancakes and rolled them with a filling of bacon, fried onion and cheese, covered them with a tomato sauce and put them in the oven for a bit. They were so filling, I could only manage one!

Well, the curry on its own was plenty. Especially with the rest of the naan from yesterday too. I used to go home from school at lunchtime and make pancakes quite often. I would have mates coming round for them too. This is a very good point. There is nothing stopping me having them another day. But no extra filling for me though. Although yours does sound nice, for me it's just the lemon and sugar.

I don't usually do pancakes (at least, I don't remember doing them often). We didn't have them Tuesday but yesterday. That was simply because it was more practical. We are pushed for time on a Wednesday so it made sense to do something quick. I did pancakes only to remember that I don't actually like them! My 14 year old son, on the other hand, had pancakes at home and then had more at his Explorer Scout group. The rare occasions I would make pancakes, I made them myself but I used a mix in a bottle this time. I think I'll do that if I do it again!

I like to mix mine up but I still don't go the whole hog. I always buy a packet bag mix. I absolutely love them. So did my son. I am guessing he still does. I wonder if he makes them now with his girlfriend? I must ask. It did make me laugh, sorry but, when you said you forgot you didn't like them. Again that's the sort of thing I would do

@eveeexpress I'll try things again that I've not had for a while, especially if it's different in some way (e.g. I don't like fried sausages but I had them grilled and found I do like them). I have pancakes less than once a year and it's really the toppings that make the difference. I forgot the taste of the actual pancake.

@pumpkinjam ooh I love the actual taste of the pancake. Which is why I am always reluctant to try with any different toppings. Incase it spoils the taste of the pancake. Mind you, I never used to like waffles. Then when out with my son one day at a wildlife park, he said he would treat me, and they looked lovely. I didn't have the heart though to say I didn't like the taste of waffles. But then when I had one in front of me with chocolate and cream on it, it was the nuts! So for me, it's waffles that are great with the toppings. Oh, and I am not keen on fried sausages either. In the oven for 25 mins or under the grill for me too.
