Political curiousity

Simply put.... I hate politics or even discussing it. But it seems to be what everyone focuses on. I have seen people lose years of friendship over disagreements. We are living in an era where our beliefs are constantly under attack just because so many people refuse to respect others who don't believe in the same things they do. Someone asked a nomad friend of mine what her political stand was. The person asked the question only to make sure he would not say something that may offend her in casual conversation. My friend hesitated. I knew right away her hesitation meant she supported Trump and felt uncomfortable saying so. I personally don't care what anyone's political stand is. I only care about how I am treated as a person. I think it sad that people are afraid to share their beliefs because they fear being ostracized. I love people for who they are and how they treat me, not what their political beliefs are. This is why I hate politics. It continues to divide us as a nation. Common sense is quickly forgotten in this political war.

In the 2016 presidential elections here, I have removed many friends in Facebook for posting derogatory remarks against a candidate. I want clean fun, not serious and biting remarks on people.

Good job! I also don't allow anyone to post derogatory remarks. I'm an old hippie and I only focus on living peaceful and happy. I don't like drama of any kind.

@MistyckMoon in the US, I have been watching the news about the Democrats. The candidates are doing damage to each other that I don't think they can win against Trump.

@Alexandoy I agree. These candidates show no shame in their behavior.

What happened to the days when we could agree to disagree? What happen to respecting others? What happened to having a conversation and maybe trying to convince me that your opposing beliefs were the best way to believe? Now instead of trying to convince others we would rather called them names and get verbally or physically abusive. I can't speak for anyone else but that never made me want to see things someone elses way.

I completely agree with you and I feel the same way. It's ridiculous how terrible people are treating each other over politics.

It bothers me how people turn on others because of who they support. Politics are complex, and people are more so. You shouldn't write people off because they hate OR love Trump.

Too many people have lost friendships due to politics and religion. I have my own beliefs, but don’t mind listening to the viewpoints of other. I just refuse to discuss them online.

I agree. Our political views shouldn't divide us. I don't talk politics either.

My parents are rabid Trump supporters. I just ignore that and we get along fine.

Some people have no respect for other people's views. It's very sad.
