Hello everyone! I have just done with my weekly grocery shopping with my better half. It was weird today because I was still in the Entrance of the supermarket, a woman who just came out of that shop told us outside that there are no more food inside, all was sold, no more milk and other food. I said to that woman really? She said yes. I said to my hubby that we can still go to the other shops if no more food there. So we went inside and I was laughing. That crazy woman was making panic. There were still food but the ones in cans like tuna, fruits, vegetables, potato powder like purée and dumpling were gone from the shelves. So we went to the other supermarket to buy other food varieties , just the same, canned goods and preserved food are gone. There were many people inside shopping. They were doing "Hamster" shopping. It was stressful looking at the people but I was happy because I have seen Calamansi (Calamondin) dwarf tree with lots of fruits inside. Yay! I was so happy that I bought it. It costs only 16.99€. Anyway, time for me to Mylot now. How was your day? Thank you.

I guess because of the Coronavirus, people are afraid of running out of food. That Calamondin would look beautiful on your balcony. Is that where you will put it? Hubs and I just returned from a light lunch and our grocery shopping. I hope you were able to get what you needed.

@thelme55 I understand. I’m sure it’s a bit too chilly to keep the plant out now. Thanks! I have to get dressed now and go.

Yes, that was the reason why. The people are afraid of running out of food and drinks. I will put the Calamondin or Calamansi in the balcony when it is warm enough for this tree. At the moment, it stays in the living room as it is the warmest of all the rooms. I was able to get what I need. Thanks and have a wonderful Fridate @DianneN

@thelme55 Ah - I had a different interpretation of hamster shopping ! Now I see. It is quite alarming when we hear that such a pandemic is so near to us. For now we are ok where we are, but still there are growing cases in my state. The panic has not set in (yet) but I really have to wonder where this is going. I normally stock up anyway, but since yesterday I've been buying up extra food and water. Stay healthy everyone!

Yes, seriously @much2say. We call it in German "Hamster Einkauf (shopping)" as people are in panic buying food because of something bad happening and they have to prepare a lot of food just in case they couldn´t go out, (when people are not allowed to go out of their house because of coronavirus). This is happening now in one of the villages in Germany, where the infected couple live. This couple was still attending the carnival festival last weekend. They are now quarantined in the hospital and being treated.

Actually, it is called "Hamster Einkauf(shopping)" in German. Maybe it is a German word. We called it Hamster shopping when you buy a lot of goods in panic or so. This time, it is because of coronavirus. Thank you @porwest.

@porwest Maybe that is why it is called Hamster Einkaufen (shopping) by the Germans.

@thelme55 I guess it makes sense considering hamsters typically fill their jaws full of food to go and hide it.

I haven't kept up with the news lately. Is everyone buying up all the food because of the coronavirus outbreak or is it because of something else? Oh yea I did want to ask, what does hamster shopping mean?

People really go into panic mode, don't they? I might buy extra flour and rice but I don't think I even need to do that really. But who knows? Supplies might be hard to source at some stage.

@thelme55 We are going to get more supplies of Vince's heart and diabetes medication in case they get hard to find. That's a good idea to buy yeast and flour. It doesn't hurt to be prepared.
