Spring Cleaning!

Spring is (hopefully) upon us now that we have entered the month of March. What are your favorite things to start cleaning up your house? What are your goals? I've found that the easiest way to stay motivated enough to continue cleaning is not to overwhelm myself. Scheduling the rooms/areas that you want to clean and only tackling those for a day doesn't make you feel that the task is impossible. For example, I may start with the bedroom, but will narrow it down even further. I may start with the dressers or maybe the nightstands. If I feel that I can work on a few areas of the room in the same day, then I'll account for that in scheduling as well. The next thing I usually do is declutter while I clean, but I think most people do that. I've recently starting doing the Marie Kondo method, which is to get rid of anything that doesn't spark joy. I'm not trying to be minimalist but it is a nice and positive way to get rid of things that I might not otherwise. Another thing I like to do is to be green/environmentally friendly when cleaning. If it doesn't need electricity or chemicals to clean, then I don't use them, regardless of convenience. I also will remove anything that's not "green" and will replace it with something that is more friendly. Lastly, with the corona virus being exposed to the U.S in small numbers, I've started to disinfect everything as I go, and continue to go back to disinfect again if it's something frequently touched. How will you be handling your spring cleaning?

We have our weekly cleaning as well, but normally once a year we tend to do some decluttering and deep clean some things that don't get deep cleaned often. Probably a little more tedious than to just declutter through out the year, but it's something we've found to work for us :)
