1. Nice Mardi Gras celebration at my parents' house. We made king cake and my dad made red beans & rice. We also watched the parades taking place back home in New Orleans on YouTube. Since my my dad's family used to be heavily involved in the Mardi Gras krewes, many family stories were shared. 2. Beautiful Ash Wednesday Mass. 3. It's the beginning of sno-ball season. For those who aren't aware, sno-balls are New Orleans style shaved ice. They are often mistaken for snow cones (and to the untrained eye, they do look similar). Although there are a few places that serve them year-round, they are usually seasonal, with the season starting late February-early March and extending through the summer. Even though I live in NC now, we are lucky to have a sno-ball stand nearby and the owner even has Louisiana ties. 4. Finally starting to get good sleep and making progress on some of my organization projects around the house! 5. Returning to martial arts after a long hiatus. What have been the simple pleasures in YOUR life?

I face difficulties a lot myself, but I find it is also good to remember the things that bring me pleasure. Thanks for commenting.

A good cup of tea or coffee is one. I love King cake, kind of hard to find in these parts though.

That sounds very nice. I have not had a good cup of tea/coffee in a while. We used to order our king cakes from back home in New Orleans and even have tried one from a local bakery that we thought was pretty good. We still do those on occasion, but ever since we discovered Haydel's (a NOLA bakery) recipe online we have been making it ourselves and it has been my family's favorite by far. I think they like getting to have it fresh from the oven...
