How do you feel about nicknames? / myLot

I hate them...at least for me. One thing I cannot STAND is to be called Val. I know some folks don't mind it but I just think it is rude to take liberties with someone's name. If they prefer me to call them that, great. But I never assume, I guess because I hate it so much.

I don't care for them which is one of the reason I choose my kids names carefully.

i love nicknames... most people call me Mike ... or Mitzu :D

I have to agree with you....I mean yeah my name is Jennifer, and I do allow SOME people to call me Jen, but dont take it upon yourself to call me that...Its like with my son, his name is Elijah and yeah we call him Eli at home, and again we do allow some people to call him Eli, but his name is Elijah, and that should be his right when he gets older to say what peopel can and can't call him
