My Poppy's birthday today....

Today is my Poppy's birthday ( Grandfather not my dad 
). Well actually in an hour it will all be over. 11pm here.
I have somewhat mentioned in various posts of mine that my Pop is suffering with Dementia. I have yet to talk about that with you guys but taking my time as I'm sure you can imagine, it's a hard thing to talk about. But tonight, besides my Pop asking a few questions over and over, he was seeming really good. He is on some medication so I'm guessing it's helping him calm down ( will explain what that means another time ).
My dad bought a pavlova for us to have. I was going to take a photo of the whole thing to show you guys but my mind is so full and tired I forgot. I remembered after my Nanny cut and served some of it. 
So got half at least.
So that also brings me to the next thing, I have notification to do. I'm still not doing so well and dealing with major insomnia. Yet also having difficulties staying awake at times. I really don't know how to explain that. Basically it's going one or the other. Sleep a lot or awake a lot. No in between of feeling refreshed and awake. I don't know what's going on but I am going to lay down after I post this. And will continue with notifications later.

@LadyDuck Thank you! But it was actually my Pop's birthday as in my grandfather. But thank you jsut the same. The pavlova was nice! I love the fresh fruit on top!

Have you seen a doctor about your sleep and insomnia issues? Perhaps a sleep study may shed some light on your predicament. Or, your doctor can prescribe some medicines that will help you with sleep.

@VivaLaDani13 It is important for carers to take care of themselves or they will also end up sick. There are places where your Poppy could go for respite or day care. None of my business of course - but it's good if you're all aware that help and respite is available.

@JudyEv You're all good Judy! I honestly appreciate your comment. I do agree with you. My Nan is always exhausted but she did at least agree with some doctor that if things become way too much for her, she will get my Pop to go out every now and then. I'm guessing like what you're talking about.

Yeah my Nan is looking after him. She has been offered to put him somewhere else but she doesn't want that. Even though she is exhausted, it's not something she wants right now.

@JohnRoberts My dad isn't the one suffering with dementia. It's my Poppy, my grandfather who is suffering with it.

@marguicha Thank you very much. It's actually my Pop who is suffering. I meant "Poppy" as in my grandfather. He is the one who had his birthday and is suffering with Dementia.

@Daljinder That pretty much almost happened the other day lol I was questioning myself whether I was dreaming or not. And thank you, I will probably go back to sleep again after my doctor's appointment this afternoon.
