I could not open the pickle jar.

After my nap I pared and peeled the potatoes. I added some oil while they were still warm. I wanted to finish the salad, but My aching hands could not open the pickle jar. Normally I buy dill pickles by the gram. They place it in a plastic bag and I add salted water at home. They did not have those last Monday so I bought these. And not maybe I have to wait until tomorrow to cut them up and mix them with the potatoes. I´ll try again under warm water. Sometimes that helps. Do you have an idea to open the jar?

I have one of those rubber grippers that fits over the lid to open the jars.

I hit the lid with a regular knife in a couple of places. That usually breaks the seal

You can try to use the screwdriver. Inset the tip of the screwdriver to the jar lid. Pry open gently and you can hear a little sound at the same time. Then you can open the lid by your hand.

When I have those problems I usually lightly tap the lid against the counter a few times, sometimes that works. Otherwise I get an ice pick and punch a small hole in the lid.

We bought a fancy jar-opener the other day as both of us now have less strength in our hands than we used to. Can you break the seal by putting the end of a knife under the lid? Be careful not to let it slip though.

I take a bottle opener and release the pressure from the jar.

The bottle opener was for thinner lids. But I found a bigger one I had never used it that did it
