Hey! Who turned the clocks ahead? It just doesn’t make sense to me to set the clocks ahead when there’s 15 hours of daylight, then set them back when it gets dark at 4:30 in the afternoon! Sounds more like daylight killing time. Anyway, have a drink of wine to help you adjust....or listen to another song with “wine” in the title, a countdown inspired by @DianneN . Here’s today’s tune.
#4: Tears Will Be the Chaser for Your Wine - Wanda Jackson
Late last month @JohnRoberts did a countdown of people he felt belonged in the Country Music Hall of Fame, and Wanda Jackson was one of the people mentioned. If you only know the Rockabilly Hall of Fame singer for her rock songs like “Let’s Have a Party” or “Fujiyama Mama” and think, “Seriously? Country?” you will probably change your mind after listening to this.
Jackson actually started in country music, discovered by Hank Thompson. Then Elvis suggested she try rockabilly, and she set the world on its ear as the first rockabilly/“rock and roll” female star.
When rockabilly faded she went back to country, where she enjoyed a successful resurgence in the 60s thanks to hits like this one.
Last year, Wanda announced her retirement from performing after seven decades on the road. The announcement came after the death of her husband, who also served as her manager. Happy retirement, Wanda. Hope you’re picking up your Country Music Hall of Fame medallion soon.

When you listen to her rockabilly stuff you’d never believe it’s the same person. I saw her five years ago (when she was 77), and she could still belt the rockabilly stuff out!

I think I may have heard of Wanda Jackson; but this song is not familiar at all!
