Unexpected holiday........

As soon as I was about to leave my house for work with my daughter, I noticed an unread message. Well it was about an uncalled for holiday. Generally we would be excited about unexpected holiday, but this one made me worry and fear
Mornings are rush and I don't get time to read newspaper. So I missed reading the news that government has declared a holiday for all schools up to grade 5. This is to control corona spread. Seems overnight we have 5 cases which are almost confirmed and waiting for official confirmation. And many who came in contact with these 5 are in isolation.
Now I have a holiday as my students are below 10 years and they have to stay at home till government sends further notice. As for my daughters, elder one has study holiday. And younger one gets a default holiday. Theirs is a Waldorf school with only seven children right now above age of 10. So while the other 120 children got holiday, school announced it for at least 2 days for these seven too.
While it's end of academic year here and exam times, such holidays might derail everything.
Now here we all are back to our comfortable dresses in home. And no one seems excited about this unexpected holiday.

It's definitely not a nice holiday. Here too schools upto Grade 5 are closed till further notice by government. High School and senior schools are working. It's time for board exams and other competitive exams for these students.

Too many unexpected closures are unwelcome. One feels better to have a lot of regular workdays and then planned leaves or expected holidays.
Let us hope that things are under control soon.

It's definitely not an exciting one. But precautions especially fot younger children has to be there. It's the best a government can do. Let's hope things are contained and world is back to normal life and business.

We have five suspected cases but none confirmed so far. However in our country, there are 40 confirmed cases now and hundreds in isolation out of suspect. Half of these confirmed cases are foreign travelers from Italy and other virus affected areas.

We should not panic but definitely take all safety and precautions. There has been unnecessary panic spread but we can't even downplay it.

@arunima25 You're right. There is still no major panic here, but the virus came here three days ago, so I expect that panic will increase over time.

You are right. In this situation one should avoid travel as much as possible. All these cases in India have come through travel only. Airport is the most prone place for infection. We are cancelling all our plans to travel. Even companies have put travel on a halt.

I read an article about the schools here. There is a guy who has petition on closing our schools. There were 200 people who signed it so far. But no closure yet.

Such actions are needed to contain the spread and control the virus. But how long can one go along with disruption in normal life and business. It's scary now.

A lot of things has been disrupted. But I think it is better that we prevent it than wait until there is an outbreak.
