There is no harm in doing it. I have read somewhere that putting sliced onions in the room will absorb virus and bacteria thus preventing spread of disease.
Since our department is in the front line and we are exposed to different people every hour we try to wash our hands as often as possible with soap and water, in addition to hand sanitizer and rubbing alcohol.
We also put sliced onions all over the place such as tables, counter top and window.

@florelway With the craziness, probably easier to find onions than Lysol as well.

@porwest you are right. Am also using vinegar to sanitize hands and chlorine solution to wipe surfaces.

There were studies and experiments conducted that show some active ingredients in onions and garlic could inhibit the formation of genetic materials in viruses . Maybe you should pound or blender garlic and onions and make a spray, think it's more effective than just putting slices on top of surfaces, they might not land there

@louievill of course they're natural antibiotics. Don't mind the smell lol just brush your teeth. The body odor may not be that foul unless you eat so much in a day which is not good as it may cause stomach upset.

As far as I know, if it get dark in a short period of time, it has absorbed a lot of bacteria and viruses. You can give it a try.

@rappeter13 that is possible because we encounter different kinds of people everyday. We also receive money everyday.

Yes I have observed that. The onion we.put in the office turned darker faster than the onion I put in my bedroom.

I've come across this several years ago in one of my readings. I also use red oniond if I have colds. There are plenty of precautionary measures like personal hygiene, frequent washing of hands, not touching our eyes, nose and mouth. Improve immune system. Avoid touching surfaces in public places.

You have to dispose them properly the way you dispose hospital waste. I think the possibility of it growing again is remote.
