What musical wine wins the gold medal in my countdown? A complete shock to most people...and totally obscure to most people, too. Well, this is me, y’know. Every now and then I have to do a countdown of “big hits” just to prove that I do know popular songs! Thanks again to @DianneN , whose post about the bad word fixer attacking her bottle of wine inspired this countdown. And here’s my favorite “wine” song.
#1: Weeping Wine - Lloyd Cole
I promise I’m not trying to be difficult. I love this song, while the bonus song (“Red Red Wine”) didn’t do much for me, regardless of the version.
Unless you had a cool college rock station or alternative station, or you watched MTV’s 120 Minutes, you’ve probably never heard of Lloyd Cole and the Commotions. They broke up in 1990, with Cole beginning a solo career.
This great tune came from Cole’s second solo album. And, while that description above (the “college rock” and “alternative” radio stations) might make you think this is something outlandish sounding, when you listen to it, you’ll hear just a really great rock tune from a really good singer/songwriter.
Bottoms up!
Thanks again, Dianne, and thanks to everyone for reading.
