Practicing basic hygiene is not rocket science

With the COVID 19 scare, I am amazed at how many instructions we are given for basic hygiene. Adults are being cautioned to wash their hands and cover their faces when they have a cough.
As far as I know this was a common practice from childhood to the current time. My parents always drilled good hygeine, basic manners and etiquette into to us from a vey young age and I never forgot those basic principles.
However, I am always frustrated to see people who should know better coughing, sneezing, yawning with mouths wide open in public. It doesn't have to take an epidemic or pandemic to start practicing basic hygiene and manners. Just the other day, in spite of the warnings, I was in a store where a woman coughed directly into my face and made no attempt to cover her face. No wonder viruses spread so quickly and easily.

You are so right about that, people should that! I would think people would have learned that when they were going to grammer school myself! The trouble is, a lot of people don't bother to do any of that. I couldn't tell you how many times I've been in a public bathroom washing my hands and women will use the restroom and then just walk out, without washing their hands. This is at places that stay busy all the time. You are right to, just think about all the other people in this world that are just like that woman, speading all their germs around!
This reminds me of being in the grocery store this moring. I was looking at something and covered my mouth and let out one cough, I seen a woman coming near me and I said "don't worry, it's not the virus, it's from smoking"! She must have not heard me cough because she looked at me, like she was real puzzled and I was some crazy person! lol

Just today I saw this woman in the store and she opened her mouth so wide to yawn with no thought of covering her mouth,

@Freelanzer I just got off of youtube where I gave a very long comment to a woman I watch all the time. After I listenen to her, it kind of made me mad. She was telling everyone that they are just going way overboard here in America and making it sould like everyone should go out and do the same things they always do as long as their careful. She was really trying to downplay the whole thing and making it sould like everyone is worrying for nothing! She even went as far as to say she thought it was crazy that they are closing place. Doesn't that woman know that there people everywhere that you might cross pathes with, just like that woman in the store. That woman's crazy! Now we know another reason why this thing keeps on spreading! How many other people on different sites are telling people the same thing!

You are right. Basic hygiene and etiquette are to be practised all the time even when there is no virus outbreak. Good lifestyle, healthy diet, basic hygiene should be a part of our day to day life.

@Freelanzer Yes. They need a virus alarm to do that. And they put others too to risk.

I completely agree with you. People who don´t know basic hygiene should be quarantined until theylearn. Now and before.

Not everyone does cover their mouth so I believe they have to be reminded to do basic hygiene. You would think it is common sense, but, not all are taught that so I feel they have to be reminded.
