So soap water is Covid-19's nemesis. And ordinary masks are not enough to prevent it. Me thought, how about making masks from gents kerchiefs. Wash them, then dip them in soap water and some detol. Wear with the help of rubber bands on either side..when going out. Let it be wet..carry small bottle with such water periodically use on hands or dampen then mask. Me says ..all tough problems usually have easy solutions. Will it work? Will it hurt system when detol is breathed in so much? In the meanwhile, Indians, stock up. Have enough salt, chillies, oil, rice, wheat, pulses, onions, whatever... cornflakes, oats, milk powder, soaps, toothpastes, ..rubber bands, staplers...kerchiefs.. I am expecting this thing to last 5 months. And if anybody will recall, I was expecting Covid to be big even when a tennis player asked the ball boy to peel a banana...I hate the fact that I am proved right.

I actually think will be a slow down once it warms up. Where Trump actually was right. His dumb problem thought it would disappear.Doctors even said fall it will flare back up. Why I know world is not going to end. They have time to fix it so if do probably will not hear much about it after June in our country.

@vandana7 Oooh, that's not good, vanny... I agree with crossbones that doctors here are hoping the virus goes into a slump as the US warms up with Spring/Summer weather...

I have to wonder, is the scare in China over already? That would make it 2 months there. I know the scare is still in places like Italy and Spain and probably also France and Germany so there's 2 months in those places. I'm not sure about the UK or Canada, I don't really follow news that closely. And then of course is the US. It seemed to hit the East coast first and has wormed it's way westward. Yeah, we'll all be infected by end of May. You know I'm just kidding about eveyone becoming infected, right?

I am told in Italy they simply are running out of hospital rooms and staff so it has become a case of selecting person based on chances of survival, and letting others die.I am not sure if this rumor is true. But in India, we are kinda..uneducated. We eat with our hands. We also tend to be everybody else can be infected bu.I won't be infected mentality...in other words, careless. Yesterday, a girl who returned from Milan escaped hospital, traveled in flight, then train, and infected her folks. Is it rocket science to understand that if more people are infected soon there will not be enough doctors to tackle the magnitude? And that girl is educated person. Uneducated would continue working ..especially day laborers as their home and hearth runs on daily wages.

And Merkel I think said she expects 50 percent of Germany to be infected...so you are not very far from the truth.

Many people even those that are educated have the mentality that they just are not infected so why not just go to work or shopping or what ever, I think many are in denial @vandana7 The problem is that it is that mentality that is dangerous and there is little people like us can do about it.

I am not too worried about it. Always keep enough food for an easy month here. Especially during the winter.

A month is not what I am looking at with this. Those who download and upload materials are likely to be infected. Truck drivers too. Vegetables may be short in supply soon.

I'm hoping by August it will be over. We are going on vacation in September! We are stocked up and ready for a 2-3 week lockdown. Stay safe and healthy!

You too... stocking up is essential in India because some folks have tried to escape quarantine.

Hope with all precautionary measures it's contained well. In our kind of population density a community spread can create a havoc. I hope that it's not more than a month. We have to fight on war front.

I am expecting it to be really bad in India. Our leaders got up late. Only 57 testing centers? For this size population? To top it all, people do not have patience when they are quarantined. Some have escaped and kinda infected others perhaps. How difficult is it to understand that right now, I have facilities, where even if I get treated, I am cured, for good like vaccine. But outside, if I go about infecting many, the thing will boomerang. I might return and there will be no bed for me, and hospital staff would be dying of exhaustion. How difficult is it for educated minds to figure that much out?

@vandana7 Yes. Some people are acting stupid and ignorant. But I am still hopeful. Our government is doing a good job. I would rather appreciate and applaud them. Yes citizens have to do their part responsibly to contain it. Containing the spread is the only effective way. And I am very confident of our doctors. You know being a poor country we are competent to work in crisis and lack of resources. And trust me I have stayed in US and UK. I could never get confident with doctors there. Our doctors are really competent. And I think our immunity is stronger as we live and struggle each day with crisis like pollution, dirt etc. Guess! Some of our shortcomings turn out to be our strongest points.

@vandana7 I agree. Now they are closing temple and pilgrimage also. Any gathering above 50 is banned. I think when you become doctor or join armed forces, you know you are supposed to give up everything and be there in national emergency. We should salute them and boost their moral. Also the municipal workers, janitors, people in testing labs..... They all are facing professional hazard for the sake of national emergency. One of my cousin is doctor with Army and he is there in quarantine center for last few weeks and we know we have confirmed cases there. As a family we get prepared. My brother in law is pilot with Air Force. He has been part of many air lifts. And they all are always ready to do that. Let's not panic. Let's pray for our nation and world. I am sure India will win the battle. We have done it in past and we will do it now.
